Sea defences near Rosslare Strand, Ireland.

“You might think that the sea is company,
Exploding comfortably down on the cliffs,
But no: when it begins, the flung spray hits
The very windows, spits like a tame cat
Turned savage.”

🧪⚒️ “I doubt that it is a coincidence that 2024 has seen exceptional global atmospheric and sea surface temperatures, and as a consequence there have been very high peak rainfall intensities”
I have now posted my provisional analysis of fatal landslides in 2024 on my blog. In total, 708 fatal landslides (excluding those triggered by an earthquake), cost 4,492 lives. This is far higher than in any previous year for which I have data.

And here it starts....the first light pushing inwards, seeding the new summer to come. It's beautiful, this day we connect to people 5000 years ago. No other profession can say that. It's why archaeologist4lyfe.darkbess can only come in so far. Then light wins.

BLESSED SOLSTICE .

Last year in the Arctic Circle was the 2nd warmest since 1900. The nine warmest years have been the last nine years.
