The Trump admin is almost sure to face the dilemma of whether to continue supporting Argentina, even if it means it might never be repaid. The IMF can say what that's like, having experienced throwing good money after bad in Argentina over decades. By @mdebolle.com:

To repay its IMF creditors—& now US government creditors & lenders lined up by Bessent—Argentina must figure out how to build up dollar reserves. It can only do so by exporting more, a tall order in the current chaotic trading environment Trump foisted on the world. By @mdebolle.com:

If the US supports formal dollarization in Argentina, it would weaken the IMF's hand, could create conditions for regional confrontation with China, & would be a one-way street—once a country adopts a currency other than its own, it's difficult going back.
