Pay back your travel expenses Jenkyns!

Reform UK’s Andrea Jenkyns is claiming travel expenses for her job as Mayor of Lincolnshire, why? Because she lives in Yorkshire (despite saying she lives in Lincolnshire on her nomination forms).

“It might take our producer five minutes to find 60 economists who feared #Brexit and five hours to find a sole voice who espoused it.

But by the time we went on air we had one of each: we presented this unequal effort to our audience as balance.

It wasn’t.”

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

What does Europe mean to you? Watch European Movement UK's video featuring Caroline Lucas: bsky.app/profile/euro...
To so many of us, Europe is more than a place, it’s a part of who we are. Hear what the public had to say when we went out and asked them what Europe means to them.

Imagine if a referendum were held in which 52% of those who voted declared that the Earth was flat.

And that subsequently everyone in the UK was forced to behave as if the Earth was indeed flat, and all main parties said "Ok, flat it is. Evidence be damned."

That's Brexit.

Whatever EU deal is announced on Monday the benefits to UK will inevitably be inferior to membership of the EU. The UK side will try to limit the many damages of Brexit but frictions and costs will remain and we will probably have to pay for the benefits we obtain. Brexit will always be a negative.

Please repost, if like me, you will never accept Brexit.

It harms the British people. It was obtained through foreign interference and by far the worst abuses of democracy in modern British history, and it robs us of freedom and citizenship.

In short, what @sophgaston.bsky.social hints at is that gov't is approaching the UK/EU reset not driven exclusively by UK interest. Not even responding to public opinion (which poll-after-poll shows wants us to be closer, faster), but in part according to how vested media interests might react. ~AA
Crucial point by Sophia Gaston to Commons C'tee:

"The existence of a 'Brexit betrayals' narrative" has a "profoundly depressive" impact on how gov't is approaching the UK/EU relationship. And that is "problematic" because it does not even reflect public opinion, but "coerced by media opinion." ~AA

Not to mention the most disgusting misunderstanding of those who serve.

Yes. That is what military personnel do. Every. Single. Day. They put themselves in harm's way "defending somebody else". Not to mention police, fire service, and all the "greedy unions" you denigrate for getting a payrise. ~AA

Hey British media,
It’s no surprise that if you give Farage the run of the place, he’ll start winning.
Time to do your actual jobs and start interrogating him on his Brexit shitshow, his funding, his Trumpiness, his idiotic manifesto, his real plans for the NHS… instead of drumrolling him into No.10

Essentially *all* research and expert assessments show that this does not work. It will not counter Farage, but literally push votes towards Reform.

It genuinely is impossible to overstate how profoundly stupid and strategically illiterate this decision is.

You cannot out-Reform Reform.
