"One of the things that we have to do in a post-Trump era is return to a place where we think dictators are bad."

@sarahlongwell25.bsky.social revisits the moment Trump sided with Putin over US intel, and how he’s now dropped the pretense of pretending dictators are bad.

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

Former Senator Al Franken resigned for smelling a woman’s hair. I’m guessing he was standing a lot farther away than this.

Jimmy Kimmel wasn't suspended because of what he said. He was suspended because the FCC threatened his employer.
That's state-sanctioned censorship and it is a GIANT RED FLAG 🚩🚩🚩 that authoritarianism isn’t *coming* it’s ALREADY HERE. Today it's Jimmy. Tomorrow it's the rest of us.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

Just to be clear, whenever Trump says “We” are going to be great again, or I’m going to make “us” rich,
the “we” and the “us” mean the microscopic minority of people in the morbidly wealthy club and the bamboozled throngs who will ultimately pay the price.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?
