Mucinex is doing SQUAT. My lungs are clogged, breathing is difficult...help!

Does anyone have any comments/advice about getting a gel injection in my knee? I have one scheduled in 6 weeks. The steroid shot was great, but began wearing off at about 4 weeks, and my knee was back to its horrible self by 6 weeks.
I'm new to this.
