The postmodern neo-Marxist your parasocial daddy cries about.
Twice while listening to experimentalish pop this year: “huh, this sounds like J-Pop, probably just me. Ring a weeb or cultural osmosis.” A few minutes later: [entire verse in Japanese]

MAGA is freaking out over Arabic numerals now, so what happens when they learn where the word ‘algebra’ comes from?

Good song:

I would like to see the tyrant's daughter
So upset by what her father taught her
I would like to see the tyrant's son
So outraged by what his father's done
I would like to see the tyrant's mother
So regretful she did not smother
I would like to see the tyrant's dad
I'll bet he's glad

This reaction is late, but Del Toro’s Frankenstein was really great. I read the novel in middle school and it really did affect me, so I get why it’s been his passion project. For a long time he’s wanted to make a movie of Lovecraft’s novella ’At the Mountains of Madness’

It’s funny that the leading figures of the modern, fascoid, Nazi-curious right are Candace Owens, a black woman, Ben Shapiro, a Jewish man, and Nick Fuentes, a poorly closeted queer Latino man.

‘Three weeks ago, Blake, if we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called a [rolling r] rrracist‘

Things I get annoyed with: ‘They killed Rosa Luxemburg!’ So what do you think about ‘The Accumulation of Capital’?

I grew up as an army brat. I only lived in military housing once, three years in Heidelberg to be specific, but I had the most diverse group of friends I have ever had there. These shitlords are so obsessed with using wokeness as a cudgel that they’ll undermine their own power.
Some service members who wear beards for religious reasons worry the Pentagon may soon target their shaving waivers, a concern driven by recent policy shifts that have already tightened rules for troops with medical exemptions.

‘History lies at the core of every conflict. A true and unbiased understanding of the past offers the possibility of peace. The distortion or manipulation of history, in contrast, will only sow disaster. As the example of the Israel–Palestine conflict shows.’

The worst thing about the 2020 election is that Rand Paul, an optometrist, did not get to use the slogan ‘Rand Paul: 20/20 vision for America’

Tony Stark built a micro fusion reactor to keep himself alive. The ruling class will only allow progress if it benefits them personally.

@samseder.bsky.social Yanis Varoufakis and Ezra Klein are not similar. You’re comparing the former Marxist finance minister of Greece to a mediocre NYT writer. Varoufakis actually left SYRIZA because of the compromises with the troika (IMF, ECB, the European Commission)

I highly recommend Kim Stanley Robinson’s ‘Mars Trilogy’. It manages to combine hard sci-fi, revolutionary socialist politics, and interpersonal drama across three books.

Musk likes the series, from what I’ve read, but he doesn’t understand it at all

From the 50s to the 90s, the US had two real competitors: the USSR and Japan. The Soviets were a geopolitical and ideological rival, while Japan was an economic rival, especially in cars and consumer electronics. China now is like if you combined Japan and the USSR then quadrupled the population.

@currentaffairs.bsky.social since you’ve collaborated with Chomsky, do you have any idea about his relationship with Epstein? It kills me from a political and linguistics standpoint

Something has to be done about #SCOTUS otherwise it may be impossible to push through any leftish laws. This is one reason that simple electoralism will not save us and why revolution is necessary if we want the planet to survive.

In 2004 Canadians voted Tommy Douglas, who introduced universal healthcare to the country, the ‘Greatest Canadian’. Somebody tell Trump, see if his narcissism and desire to be remembered can get us something good for once.

But you're like, "Mellow out, man, just relax
It's really not that complicated"

Mike: Pedophiles sponsor all these fuckin' racist bastards
And I told you once befo' that you should kill your master

What the fuck are we even doing here? Why isn’t the impending climate collapse the only thing we’re talking about? Ten years from now the world will be unfit for human civilization.
