Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

100% unacceptable from any government official.
Scandalous from a congressman.
Shame on Rep. Clay Higgins & shame on anyone who thinks this is acceptable.
This man didn’t just cast the lone “no” vote on exposing a global sex-trafficking network… he also grabbed a citizen for daring to ask a question he didn’t like. I hope this young man presses charges.

Journalists:
It’s time to organize a response. This BS is eventually coming for all of us.

What will you do next time? Amplify the “offending” question? Walk out?

It’s time, past time really, to make a plan and push back.

No one wants a war with Venezuela.
Chris Murphy on possible military strikes on Venezuela: "It's pretty clear it's just an effort to distract people from the rising prices and the Epstein scandal. No one wants a war with Venezuela ... and by the way, it's wildly illegal."

Great idea!

They're placing signs at the locations that read, 'ICE stole someone here'..."

Thank gods for clergy that do the right thing!
What a photograph.

“Nearly two dozen arrested as faith leaders protested outside a federal immigration facility near Chicago…”

Arrested large amounts of peaceful clergy face first on pavement is a pretty good sign you’re not the good guys in the story. www.reuters.com/legal/govern...

Ugh, this is what just happened
How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Why has the government been closed at all if Senate Dems cave now? Didn't they say that they could not go along with throwing millions of people off health care?

What's materially changed? A *promise* is not action. ALSO fascists lie and I've been told by some Senate Dems that the GOP is fascist.

The Dems who are caving are doing so not because their base wants them to, not because the voters want them to, and not because SNAP recipients want them to. They are caving because their DONORS want them to. And that’s really all that ever matters to the establishment.

Call them now.
No deal without ACA.
John Fetterman, Angus King, Maggie Hassan, Dick Durbin, Jon Ossoff, Jeanne Shaheen, Kirsten Gillibrand, Catherine Cortez Masto, Mark Warner, Cory Booker, and of course Chuck Schumer. Maybe others not top of mind. Not all responsible will publicly vote for the cave - that's not how this works.

It’s a bubble. OpenAI is currently asking the US government to provide guarantees to enable it to continue to expand the bubble. But the bubble will burst. It’s a matter of time.
“Michael Burry, who famously shorted the US housing market before its collapse in 2008, has bet over $1 billion that the share prices of AI chipmaker Nvidia and software company Palantir will fall — making a similar play, in other words, on the prediction that the AI industry will collapse.”

I have to stress how highly unusual it is for the most powerful military on the planet to be blowing up random boats in international waters.

I can’t help but feel that several criminal charges will ultimately come from these strikes.

It makes far more sense to interdict them.

Empower States to Undo Citizens United
Text SIGN PKFEPT to 50409 — It’s time for our state to reclaim control over our democracy. In 2010, the Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. FEC decision opened the floodgates for unlimited corporate spending in elections. That ruling stripped ordinary citizens of equal voice in our political process — but it did not take away the state’s authority to define what powers corporations may have. Montana’s “Transparent Elections Initiative,” known as the Montana Plan, offers a model worth following. By amending its state constitution and corporate charter laws, Montana is asserting that corporations — as artificial entities created by the state — should not have the power to spend money or anything of value to influence elections or ballot measures. This approach doesn’t depend on federal action or Supreme Court reversal; it uses state sovereignty to restore integrity to elections from the ground up. Our legislature can do the same. States have always held the power to define the privileges and limits of corporate charters. We can—and must—use that authority to protect citizens’ voices from being drowned out by moneyed interests. Please take steps to draft and introduce legislation modeled on Montana’s plan. Hold public hearings, invite expert testimony, and show that our state stands for fair elections and the principle that democracy is not for sale. Thank you for your service and for defending the people’s voice in government.
