They defend him as a sort of sunk cost fallacy. Because if he isn't the super genius they propped him up to be, then that also makes the defender just as moronic as he is. And that cannot happen
Elon Musk made an idiotic but binding offer while he was on drugs then spent weeks very publicly saying he didn’t want to buy the company and trying to worm out of it while twitter’s board threatened to sue him and STILL there are absolute idiots who think this is some kind of 17-dimensional chess.
I simply don’t believe Elon Musk is strategic enough to buy Twitter just to kill it.
I do think he genuinely wanted his own sweet social media site, and he’s willing to kill it if he gets frustrated enough.
But was fucking up so bad and so publicly his original intent all along? I don’t think so.

I can't believe how many people tell each other "He bought Twitter just to wreck it in order to silence it." He bought it to defend the Babylon Bee's transphobia, then wrecked it because he's not as smart as he thinks he is. He could've silenced it by pulling the plug. There's no 5D game theory here
