Today is the day to repost this meme about International Men's Day, one of the most unironically wholesome memes that has ever been made.

Nerdy kid at keyboard: Hi guys, I've noticed that it is International Men's Day today, and I'm confused. Why do we need a day to talk about men? We're not a marginalised group like women, queer people, or people of colour. The media is already full of stories about men. Big buff shirtless dude at keyboard: I'm glad you asked, champ. Whatever your view on men's place in society, it's still true that we face a lot of issues - like social isolation, risk of suicide, health problems, and attitudes towards sex and child rearing. Having a day to talk about those doesn't take away from anyone else's problems. In fact, having a day to talk about them helps us be more mindful, and listen better at other times. Second shirtless buff dude on a couch at his laptop: The chief here is really on to something. I want to echo what he said, and also point out that the idea we should remain silent about our problems actually contributes to a lot of our issues. We are human beings, with human needs. Seeking mutual support and understanding isn't the same thing as placing a burden on others. Especially if we're providing it for each other. Third buff dude at his laptop: Right on, my fellow kings. We've inherited a social legacy of competition and division, and a lot of what makes a man in our era is under question. IMD is a chance for us to examine and rethink what we are together, and build the bonds of solidarity and support that will make a better way possible - like in this meme. Because in our hearts, we're all curious kids and buff guys on keyboards.

Finished just under the wire - got a model done in time to celebrate Orctober!

He was a blast to paint, but was also a reminder that resin models are a pain. They’re just too fragile (hence the monkey’s little capped arm).

Miniatures and models: Simulation, Mimicry or Abstraction or a combination of the 3.
When you paint miniatures/terrain you are making decisions as to style even if you are not aware of them. These 3 techniques are IMO the most common. Gonna Waffle.

Inspired by the models I got for my birthday, I knew that I need to get through some of my painting backlog. So I got back to work on these lizard guys!

But then, I get a call from a friend. At 10:30pm! To check the mail.

And now my backlog is even bigger 😂

I can’t wait to get this one painted!

Had my first marathon airbrushing session last night (~2 hours) base-coating a squad of Dino Dudes.

While I had to go back and forth a bunch to get the patterning right, I'm super pleased with how it turned out!

I’m a grown man. I can deadlift 300lbs. I can give my wife a piggy back ride for 3 blocks without breaking a sweat. I’m the guy you call when you need to move your furniture.

I hurt my hand airbrushing little dinosaurs too much. Defeated by high quality German engineering and plastic.🥺 👨‍🎨

Went to my first mini painting competition tonight. It was a speed-paint (2 hours) comp where you get a random mini and 6 random paints.

I got a great palate, and I won first place! I also walked away with my first hob, which is a win on its own.

The first miniature I’ve ever painted. A blue-skinned genasi barbarian. He is wielding a giant silver battle axe. He is clothed in a flowing purple cape and a fur loincloth. His name is Tempus. He has wandered the world searching for his lost mother, who was a genie that disappeared on his 7th birthday. While his temper is short, he is a friendly and joyful fellow. One of my most recent painted miniatures. Finnigan the shark-man. He is blue, with two mechanical arms - one gold and one steel. He wears purple pants with green embellishments around his body. A fearsome sea captain with a viscous sweet tooth. The only thing he loves more than the sea is peppermint. Bronco, the Dragonborn knight. He was the first model I tried wet blending, and I couldn’t be prouder. He wears steel full plate armor and wields an enchanted sword of fire. When he’s not saving the kingdom, he’s definitely enjoying a bowl of something spicy. A random skeleton! She was summoned to serve an off-screen necromancer, their green magic holding this sword-and-board skelly to the mortal plane. She loves long walks in the graveyard and attacking foolish adventures.

With a D&D campaign I’m DMing coming up, I realized I didn’t have any big beefy orcs — an error demanding correction!

This sculpt was a blast. The clothing especially was awesome to work with. And now I’ve got a nice big bad for the first few sessions.
