One of the things that the Dept of Education is tasked with is fighting against discrimination in public education. This includes enforcing Title IX, which has been the impetus for millions of Women and girls to compete in sanctioned and funded sports programs across the country.

Isn't it convenient that Republicans only care about sex traffickers and pedophiles when they're "Elites" and "Mexican" cartels, and not when they're Republican politicians, Evangelical Preachers, or White police officers? What happened to that "The Sound of Freedom" energy?

Me, a week into Trump’s pre-Presidency.

RFK’s nomination is yet more evidence that Trump had absolutely nothing to do with the one good thing that came out of his first term, Project “Warp Speed” and the rapid development of the Covid vaccines.

If we assume that everything the Trump admin does will, at least in part, be a way for Trump himself to profit financially, and given the fact that the stock markets have dipped since he started announcing his Cabinet picks, particularly for companies directly impacted (eg Big Pharma w/RFK)...

There is 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 of guilt that comes with cutting Trump-y close friends and family out of your life. It's like leaving the Church, really. I should know; I've done both now. It can be lonely, and that pang will cause you to question yourself, if for no other reason than to end your ostracization.

I’ve said it before, will doubtless say it again: These folks are going to be permanently resentful because they’re seeking political power as a substitute for cultural power, and it’s never going to give them what they actually want.
I love how far afield this is from any problem government can address. “Now that Trump won people have to like and agree with me and not tell me I suck anymore.” bsky.app/profile/yash...
2. “For the last four years, very acutely, and I know it preceded these four years as well, but there's been kind of a pressing down. A pressing down and kind of limiting what people can say.”

Can we ask the migrant caravans to bring vaccines from their home countries when they head this way?

I’m starting to think this Trump guy might not know how to make America great again.

Lost in the whole Cabinet picks fiasco is the fact that Trump called for reparations for White Americans based on reverse racism. He used that phrasing, specifically. Even if it's only in college admissions, that is still some wild ass shit to even say, let alone follow through on.

A few Women got a bit of power, and the Gays were let out of the closet, so America’s Christian Right just collectively decided that it was time for Armageddon and are now actively rooting for everything that was good and decent in the US to burn to the ground.

Which seems a bit of an overreaction.

Two big reasons to think that Trump will fail if he attempts to use Art. II, Sec. 3 to force the Senate into adjournment so he can have his recess appointments. 1) That clause states that "extraordinary circumstances" are necessary, which is obviously not the case here; and

Matt Gaetz as AG? The guy who was investigated for paying underage girls for sex? That Matt Gaetz?!

Who knew that Epstein Island was just moving to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave?

It would be nice if we could confine the pain caused by Trump to the idiots who voted for him like we mostly did with Covid after the vaccines went widespread. Instead it’s going to be like early days Covid when his people were just out there being jackasses, and it made everyone sick.

Thune over Scott is exactly why Trump is demanding to be allowed to fill his Cabinet via recess appointments rather than through the traditional nomination process. There are still a lot of old school Republicans in that Chamber who might not like to have a third-tier Fox News host as SecDef.

The number 1 criteria to join the Trump admin is absolute, proven fealty to Dear Leader. Number 2 is a willingness to not just look the other way, but to actually assist in his graft, shield him from consequences, and fall on that grenade when it inevitably comes to that point...

You could literally name anyone right now and say that Trump has picked them for whichever Cabinet post, and I'd at least have to stop for a second to consider it. And I'd have to Google a good chunk of those names just to be sure. Jason Aldean as Treasury Sec? Not sure he knows math, but okay...

Of course they called themselves a Dept (even though Trump lacks the power to create those) just so they could use the acronym DOGE.
