Worth checking out if only to marvel at the full clown make-ups they superimposed on those fine X folk
"Who’s who at X, the deepfake porn site formerly known as Twitter." In an age of cowards, it's great to see the FT simply bodying these clowns.

NYT/Guardian commentators lamenting the end of 'rules-based order' and the return of 1900s 'gunboat diplomacy' seem to have never heard of Mossadegh, Arbenz, Allende, etc: all democratically elected, toppled with US support and replaced by dictators. Or maybe its the non-secrecy that bothers them?

“I have to say this very directly to the United States. It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the need for the United States to take over Greenland. The United States has no right to annex any of the three countries in the Kingdom"(🇩🇰🇫🇴🇬🇱)

When people argue that renewable energy sources are too expensive, remember that we don’t invade countries to seize wind farms and there are no solar cartels. Fossil fuels have enormous geopolitical, public health, and climate externalities.

Historically crisis events offered opportunities for unscrupulous influencers to opportunistically spread bullshit; these very bullshit-spreading abilities earned them top spots in the current US administration. #floodthezone #auspol
Good article, but I think we could add that many of the current government officials & influencers spreading political point-scoring falsehoods during crisis events HAVE BECOME gov officials & influencers BECAUSE of their bullshit-spreading talents. System effects of rotten attention dynamics.

There is a huge, open sewage canal right behind this touristy 'I love Lokhandwala' sign in Mumbai. Even if it's an open gutter, you're supposed to love it instead of questioning it and everything that caused it.

We need to start publicly naming and shaming the academics that do this and the journals that allow them through. I don't see any other way around this existential problem.
Closing out my year with a journal editor shocker 🧵

Checking new manuscripts today I reviewed a paper attributing 2 papers to me I did not write. A daft thing for an author to do of course. But intrigued I web searched up one of the titles and that's when it got real weird...
