Get Linux, but don't go for a random distro for x and x if you are new. Stick with Mint, Fedora or Ubuntu for their more straightforward install experience, and remember you can change your mind later.

Fedora. There's Bazzite which is an immutable Fedora spin, but I don't personally like immutable for daily use unless it's a dedicated game system or something.
