It's been 6 months and I have still not even had a first decision on a manuscript I submitted...is this just stock standard now or is it ok to follow up? I checked in 2.5 months ago and they said reviews were due in soon...but...that was months ago

Senior researchers, what are you doing tomorrow?

Helping DECRA applicants navigate their referee reports, that's what you're doing tomorrow.

Book in some quality time with them now. Normally reports drop around ~11am AEST.

My joy today came in the form of a formal email from my research office confirming my ARC DECRA grant has been submitted🎉🎉🎉

As always, exceedingly low chance of success but I have to say I'm extremely proud of this grant. I put my heart, soul, sweat and tears into it. It is the best it can be.

I can safely say writing this #DECRA26 grant has taken more time and energy that every other grant combined... And for such a low success rate. I'm grateful to have an ongoing role so my career doesn't rest in the success, but man I'm feeling for everyone whose future is in this lottery system

Always worth remembering this, it’s ok to feel exactly how you feel and ignore any sentence that starts with

Just to drive home the point: Research into misinformation strongly suggests that you do not repeat lies, even to debunk them. Don't quote tweet or screenshot lies. Paraphrase or say someone said something false or objectionable, but repeating lies helps to spread them.

I'm finalising my slides for my first presentation at #SMAANZ - Sports Management Australia and New Zealand next week. So excited to present this research on behalf of just a brilliant team of collaborators.

As a grant reviewer, what do you really wish people would do/not do?

Not big things, like find a significant question/innovative method/be consistent with aims

Little things, like bold each acronym the first time it’s used.

My passion for doing #safesport research comes from a place of wanting to make a positive impact in practices, policies and experiences in sport, and to this day all my favourite moments have come not from publications, but from people sharing how our team's work has impacted something or someone

We. Are. Not. To. Be. Pitied.

I ask you: what does a victim look like? What is ‘typical’ victim behaviour? Are we weak, are we broken? No - we SURVIVED. And sometimes, through everything, we find our core selves - and emerge invincible. #CSA #sexualabuse

This is an infographic from our research in Australian community sport, which found that 82% of respondents had experienced at least one instance of psychological, physical or sexual abuse as a child in community sport. 1 in 3 had experienced all three types of abuse.

I have been doing prep work for a guest lecture on ethics around coaching technology and I am shocked at some of the stats I am coming across. Perhaps the most mindboggling one is a prediction ab how many data point will be captured per athlete by 2025.

230 million data points per athlete🤯
