Just watched my second movie in a week where Netflix was name-checked in a non-Netflix movie.

"All Her Fault" is a show with a "Bunny Lake Is Missing" premise and a main character named Marissa. Did I make this happen? 🤔

Had just enough time before my Alamo Drafthouse movie to go to the @condeunion.bsky.social rally. Shame on Condé! Reinstate the Fired Four! The big eyeball is watching (and so are the rest of us).

Tell Condé bosses to reinstate the Fired Four, reverse the suspensions and end the union-busting

Lookin' good!
Our NYC teams flooded the floors of Hearst Tower with @wgaeast.bsky.social shirts! While we each bring unique perspectives to work (our strength!) the matching ‘fits are a reminder of the power we wield when we unite to improve our workplace. When things get tough, we’ll always stand together. #1u

You've heard of Barbenheimer, but today I did Predimental Value (seeing two Elle Fanning movies in one day).

We tested a few AI toys, and so far kids have found them buggy, frustrating, and uncanny. (One parent told us her kid yelled, "No, it's scary!" and threw it across the room.) But what happens when they get better? Will kids understand what is talking to them?

AI-Enabled Toys Are Here—But They Still Have a Long Way to Go
When put to the test, the high-tech toys are more buggy than buzzy. But what happens when they get better?

I wrote about why advent calendars have taken off in recent years, especially with younger generations. “I think the whole ‘little treat’ thing is part survival, part celebration,” a trend expert told me.

Recent Linklater movies feel like magazine articles to me, even when they're not specifically adapting magazine articles. Like instead of "Frank Sinatra has a cold," Blue Moon is "Lorenz Hart has a crush."

More important to me than my identity, I am also the Vice President of the NewsGuild of New York, and targeting me with a blatantly retaliatory termination like this feels like an egregious shot against our union and against media workers as a whole.

I'm not kidding, these young people should definitely put that same energy into unionizing their workplaces. You have to talk to people all the time.

My senior year government teacher took a class period to register us all to vote. He made us choose a party so we could vote in primaries. He passed out the forms, walked us through them, collected them, and put them in the mail for us. It was one of the best things a teacher ever did at my school.
If you teach 18+ year-olds, please remind your students to vote and encourage and support them in doing so! When I was an assistant professor, I would lookup students' polling places for them. Go over the process together. Voting can be confusing and overwhelming, especially for new or young voters

Jonathan Bailey story: My sister and I used to work at a video store together. Recently I said to her, "Jonathan Bailey in Jurassic World looks like an old movie cover to me. Do you know what movie it is?" She was like, "Nah. Oh wait, it's Mosquito Coast, isn't it?" She was right!
