Statement from #Streatham St. Leonard's Councillors following the tragic news of a fatal collision in Streatham in December.

We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic death of an 11-year-old girl who has died in hospital after being struck by a car at the junction of Garrads Road and Tooting Bec Road at 12:50pm on 12th December. Our deepest condolences go to her family, friends, and everyone in our community who is grieving this unimaginable loss. No family should ever have to endure such pain. As Councillors and local residents we stand in solidarity with them at this devastating time. We will be calling on the Mayor of London, Transport for London, the Metropolitan Police and local authorities to urgently review safety measures at this junction and across the wider area to prevent such tragedies from happening again. We also urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant information to come forward to assist the ongoing police investigation. This is a massive scandal. Lambeth Council is set to write off £59.3m in loans to the failed #HomesForLambeth housing scheme equivalent to a £500 cost for every single Lambeth resident.

Where has the money gone? Where is the accountability from Lambeth Labour?

I've spent three days in Calais & it's horrendous.

People living in disgusting conditions. Our Government is spending £476m on the militarisation of the border.

Just got a family facing imminent eviction in #Streatham permanently rehoused and they are so happy 😊

Being a Councillor you often get to see and hear from residents facing desperate situations which can be hugely challenging so when these positive events happen it is worth shouting about! 🎉
