If you are a baseball fan (and especially a #Royals fan) this is worth your time. A great book & a deeper look into the first KC team I fell in love with.

P.S.-Orta was safe.

I'm assuming this is not the first "Royals face decision on India" headline the Times has ever run, though perhaps the first in about 80 years

Learning the true depth of Clase’s involvement makes me so sad. He was such a talent.

Betting has no place around MLB but they’re never going to reverse course on it now. No matter how many lives and careers are ruined as a result. And that makes me even sadder.

Had a blast writing my latest article for my Substack, wherein I look at 10 greatly overlooked World Series heroes. Brian Holton, Ed Sprague, Mark Bellhorn, and many more! Who do YOU think is a good example of an underrated World Series hero?

Oct 23, 2019: So it was 6 years ago that sleazy, cumbucket
MLB Trumpire Rob Drake brazenly tweeted out:

40 years ago today, the Nintendo Entertainment System was released in the United States, effectively saving video games as we know them. This was the day before the 1985 World Series started.

Decades later, a video game (you know which one) released on October 18 saved my 1985 World Series book.

40 years ago today, the Royals and Cardinals didn’t just clinch their pennants on the same day.

They both did it on Missouri Day, a state recognized holiday.

Goddamn, I love the lore of the 1985 World Series.

Still cannot believe that Tigers team didn’t win it all.
The Dodgers are the first team to get 7 starts of 6+ innings in their first 8 games of a postseason since the 2013 Tigers (7)

Today is a dual I-70 Series benchmark. It’s the 40th anniversary of Ozzie Smith making St. Louis “go crazy, folks!”, which I interviewed him about for my book “Interstate ‘85.” Even more, it’s the day @dukope’s “Return of the Obra Dinn,” the game that saved my book, takes place!
