I'm not usually one to complain about the wetter, colder, milder months of the English year, but Jesus fucking Christ am I ever done with this endless rain!

Ready now for spring: its renewal, its gentle breezes, its not-too-hot afternoons. Arguably, the best season of them all.

This endlessly wet winter is grinding me down. Now longing for spring – to sit out on dry, mild mornings with coffee, watching the world awaken.

Latest iteration of a poem I first drafted on October 22nd 2012. Still not convinced I'm landing the ending quite how I want to.

Delighted to discover today that popular Android launcher Nova is no longer being consigned to the rubbish bin of tech history. Thank you Instabridge for rescuing this great product and promising its active development.

Evan Blass, filling my email inbox with leaked images of what I presume are the new Samsung Galaxy S26 range handsets, despite the fact that these look near enough identical to the hardware the South Korean manufacturer has been pumping out for the past five years. I am not inspired.

Things I didn't know until very recently: that the full 117 miles of Britain's M25 motorway didn't open officially till 1986 – despite work having begun in 1973. 🤯

Could someone on the Irish west coast do me a favour and have a shufty out their window? Keen to know if there's any water left in the North Atlantic. Be fucking surprised if there was, to be honest, given how much of it's been dumped over the rest of Britain in the past week.

With the Epstein/Mandelson furore now in full effect, why has no UK newspaper (looking at YOU, @thesun.co.uk) yet run the headline: END OF THE KIER SHOW?

Something seen just now in a tangentially related skeet reminded me that, many moons ago, my severely dyslexic, superbly talented friend got special approval from his uni for me to help him write his dissertation. Make no mistake: the work was all solidly his; I was merely his editor-cum-typist!

Feels rather fitting that on the day my first journal (@iamb.uk) celebrates its sixth anniversary, my second journal (@afterpoetry.com) is publishing its next #ekphrastic poem.

You can read @oormilaprahlad.bsky.social's 'Paper tiger: a zuihitsu' for free from 9pm GMT.

On a personal note, huge and sincere thanks to everyone who came along last night – poets, listeners, host @louisepoetical.bsky.social and of course special guest Penelope Shuttle. And to all who visit, read, listen to and share pages from @iamb.uk, thank you. This journal is a team effort. 🥳🎂🎉
Six years ago, a new online poetry journal launched against an inauspicious backdrop of a pandemic and Britain's exit from the EU.

@iamb.uk has since sailed many waves. Its 25th will appear this March. Last night, these 18 poets celebrated the journal's first six years. And it was bloody brilliant!

After almost six years editing audio for @iamb.uk, I'm like Cypher from 'The Matrix'. Y'know, the part where he tells Neo he's so used to looking at the code that he doesn't notice it anymore – seeing instead what it represents. That's me with waveforms now: I can spot where a poet has drawn breath.

Farage's company (and it IS a company, not a political party) is doing Britain a great service: gathering in all the very worst people in UK politics so they can be easily avoided under one roof. C'mon Boris, Gove, Patel! Time to cross the floor ...

The app for @the-independent.com is far superior to the one for @theguardian.com. The former hasn't made the latter's critical error of tying its light and dark modes to the prevailing setting of a user's device. I use dark mode near enough exclusively – but news is better read black on white.

First poem of 2026, written in the last hour for #promptcombo's #subtext theme this week with host @victoriaspires.bsky.social. The observant (and Ancient Greek literate) among you may notice what I did at the end of the very first line. 😉

Give it another hour or so, and it'll be a year exactly since a WhatsApp message from my sister informed me that our father had died.

Speaking of WhatsApp, here's a poem about my (largely textual) relationship with my dad, written roughly 14 months before he passed.

Not one for regrets (seriously, I don't have a single one – though I am sorry for a great many things), but I do often wish I'd taken ecstasy when the 90s club culture was in full effect. Or, y'know, at any time since, really. Love to know how it is to feel THAT connected to everyone and everything.

Proud of my Herculean efforts to fix/clean/improve @iambapoet.com over the past two weeks. I'd feared the amount that needed doing would take an absolute age. But, by being a little smart about things, I've managed to reduce the site's 'weight' by 100+ pages ... without sacrificing any poet's work!

If the 1487 items I've just deleted from its history are anything to go by, my PC's clipboard app is unquestionably my most used. Who knew?
