Flights booked so there's no stopping me now!
I'm excited to be boarding the Golden Eagle Danube Express this May, a luxury train that traces the old Orient Express route from Paris to Istanbul. I'll be giving a talk about Agatha Christie during the eight day journey. And, unlike a certain other train, it has ensuite bathrooms 😂 #AgathaChristie

Watching How to Get to Heaven from Belfast and SHOCKED to see (hear) that Netflix money wouldn't stretch to licensing the original recording of Spice Up Your Life in ep 3, so we get a (not very) soundalike cover.

The addition of these libraries has greatly expanded my access to Golden Age Detective Fiction, and I was thrilled to discover that the Brooklyn Public Library has these two books, by @markaldridge.info, who is also the co-host of "The Swinging Christies" podcast (@christietime.com).

As well as writing a damned fine crime novel that rattles along at speed, Agatha Christie has a knack for writing stuff like this.

Frequently.

There's a lot more chuckles in the Marple books than I remember when I read them over *checks notes* 30 years ago.

Watching The Rescue, a stone cold classic in my eyes. Just noticed for the first time that the Doctor snoozes on a designer Eames chair! #DoctorWho

The crushing disappointment when an episode of Murder, She Wrote opens with Jessica turning to the camera to tell us about a friend/student/book of hers 😭

Recently I've been... well, I won't say running. More like jogging with intent.

This afternoon I was on course to break my (pathetic) personal best for 10k, but 9.2k I had sudden cramp while at the bottom of a hill just as the heavens opened. I got soaked.

Moral of the story is don't do exercise.

The 1921 census required every household to identify a 'head' - assumed to be a husband - but it offered no way to record same-sex relationships. So how did women and gender non- conforming people record their lives? Often subversively, as some examples show 🧵 (1/6)
