First they came for the T, then they came for the B. Only a matter of time before they erase everyone.

We warned you this would happen.

I'm far from the first person to point this out, but Library Wars is a manga everyone interested in censorship at this moment should read.

Despite all the horrors in the world, I just want to say that the parish I’m from in Louisiana organized and held their first Pride event ever today, and I just think that’s neat 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The fact that the plagiarism typewriters are becoming inescapable in some careers is horrifying, and you really need to be ready to teach folks basic media literacy.

Generative AI is poisoning all of human knowledge, and I dread the fact that so many folks have embraced shit like ChatGPT so openly.

I know this is probably a long shot due to the holiday weekend, but if there are any in-studio voice acting classes in LA around July 4th, I'd love to attend!

(Recs for things to do and eat in LA and Vegas are also welcome!)

As some folks have been confused about this: 🎉YES🎉, the Game Jam Waiver is 100% usable outside of strike-times!

It's a modification of a contract (the Tiered Budget Agreement) that exists *alongside* the Interactive Media Agreement—so the waiver gets to keep its extra strong protections against Al!
VERY FUN NEWS! ✨

SAG-AFTRA's Game Jam Waiver is now publicly available!!

There's no way I can fit absolutely everything I want to say about it in 300 characters—both about how to use the waiver/why it's so neat + how absurdly grateful I am to the folks who helped make it a thing—but it's SO cool.

as ever, if you ask people if they think art should exist for their enjoyment they will say yes, and then if you ask them if the people making the art should get paid for it they'll tell you "no that's a fake job"
if you think every voice actor is a millionaire, you are not immune to propaganda and would not survive the winter, sorry.

historically, companies involved in labor disputes exacerbate stakes & create panic in order to try & get workers to make concessions & fold to their less-than-ideal propositions, ESPECIALLY when they’re starting to feel the pressure.
this doesn’t negate the very real stakes. BUT. important context
i think everyone can benefit from learning about historical labor dispute tactics

Pride Month so far: Jonathan Joss is murdered in a disgusting hate crime and the Navy intentionally announces they are changing the name of the USNS HARVEY MILK.

America... now more than ever... David Lynch's words ring loudly. "Fix your hearts or die." This cannot be our normal.

If you're an anime fan, and someone who really likes the community, consider archiving any relics of the past you may have. Con guides, magazines, even flyers and newspaper clippings are valuable items that help inform folks of how previous eras operated, especially in this age of online ephemera

AND the culture of, "I just want to remain neutral😊"

Unfortunately that time has passed. It was never there in the first place, but we won't go there right now. Participate, speak out, fight, or this all ends terribly for us here.
If you want the world to be a better place you gotta care even when you are not directly affected. Otherwise before you know it, you're directly affected. This culture of "screw you I got mine" has to change.

All I’ll say:
Current/future working actors deserve the most foolproof & future-proof protections we can possibly negotiate. Full stop.
Except it isn’t a full stop. Legislators are trying right now to take away state AI & labor protections. We cannot assume we’ll always be able to count on these.

On the same day that I find out the Trump administration has fired Carla Hayden, I also found out that @crunchyroll.com is canceling their library outreach program.
Anime clubs are an equitable way to promote the industry. The outreach program enabled legal public showings.

My pet gar that I donated to Shedd Aquarium would recognize me and swim over to say hi when I visited her exhibit ❤️🐠

A rare hybrid gar, I raised her since she was 2 inches long, and had to re-home her when I moved to Chicago. I was happy I could visit her in her new home!

As a librarian, a voice actor, and a lifelong anime fan...I don't think I have words for my disappointment and disgust
What benefit is there to Crunchyroll to cut off libraries? In this political climate, it's a pretty awful PR choice and yet another way of booting the medium's target demo.

Anime fans start young and they don't have credit cards.
