I’m worth so much more than this shithole retail gig.

It’s just for the season.

It’s to get finances back in the green.

But man, I should not be brought to tears by an obstinate veteran over the price of a fucking travel mug…

Must be nice to get away with it.

Really must be nice.

Finished our watch of Daria tonight.

Man, it’s poignant. It’s got bite to it. Still worth the watch today.
I relate too much to Jane at my core and Jake at my age nowadays.
They just don’t make em like they used to, don’t they?

Three weeks at this job and I’m already pretty pissed at how much they’re pushing me to suggestive sale on credit cards.
These people need to not run away screaming from me before I can sell them a fucking card nobody needs.

Wughfff, retail in the holidays. AGAIN.

In an absurd economic pitfall.

Each ‘customer’ has ~2-7 Screeching Covid-Kiddos in tow, pouting they aren’t allowed to be on their iPads in the store.

And they’re not interested in getting aaaaaaanything, We’re just lookin’!

Man, something has got to give.

Grizzled old man training an excitable 4 month puppy on a leash:
Do you know what breed this dog is?

Me, going up 6 octaves:
Of course, A SWEETHEART! 😻

Him, entirely taken unawares:
B-uhh, yeah, it’s a Brittany spaniel.

What I say: While I like dogs, I’m really more of a cat person.

What I mean: Meow.

Also, officially finished Xenoblade 1 HD today!
Future Connected was a good little coda. Kinda grew to love the nopon-kiddos after a while, and by the final boss I almost didn't want it to end. Did every sidequest, saw all the sights... time for #2!
(sometime soonish, maybe after finishing up FFT)

Been stuck in my head again, so here’s one of my favorites off of the Brazilian Girls’ eponymous album. Love the lyrics, and while it never had a MV, this one does the job perfectly~

I miss when it was mostly intellectuals into the typical ‘nerdy’ things.

Not saying new folks aren’t welcomed, but a lot of ‘this is our comfy space’ nerd cultures have been so diluted by the mainstream and shoved into spotlight that I finally feel that old casual enjoyers are getting elbowed out.

Reading through a paperback I got from a used bookstore last year, and halfway through I found this absurdly old business card bookmark for a bookstore that isn’t searchable online.
The street address shows up to a ~40 y.o. residential area, oddly near where I grew up.

I feel dumb for sleeping on Total Drama Island when it first came out?

It actually holds up surprisingly well, got me giggling!

In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

His reply was a doozy.

Maaan, I’d really love a new .//Hack game, but Bandai Namco just doesn’t want money, I guess.

Me: I’ll have a little cheese, on my break, for funsies, I’ll be fine!

Gut biome: WHOA WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT DOING HERE AGAIN?! EVACUATION IMMINENT!
*Slams Red Button*

Me, 30-ish mins later:
oh.
Oh no.

I’ve made…

A HUGE mistake.

I sincerely miss gardening.
It’s the one of the major issues I’ve had with the last few places I’ve lived: zero availability for greenery.
Shout out to the pink funeral bromeliad I struggled to keep alive for 3 yrs.

If I grew anything where I am now, It’d be devoured long before i knew it flowered.
