It's Women's History Month, & let's not erase Claudette Austin Colvin. Months before Rosa Parks, this Montgomery high school student bravely refused to give up her seat to a white person. She was arrested, but later written out of the story, called "mouthy" & a "troublemaker." She was neither.

It's Women's History Month. Eunice Randall is someone I've long admired. She was the 1st female radio announcer in the eastern US. She did it all: announced the songs, reported news, fixed equipment when it broke, and if guests didn't show up, she & a colleague sang duets. This photo is from 1921.

As a media historian, I can't allow Dear Leader to erase the achievements of African-Americans. So... it's Women's History Month & Bessie Coleman was the first American Black woman to get a pilot's license (1921). She gave flying lessons, was a stunt pilot, and died doing what she loved-- flying.
