Scored some pumpkins from my Buy Nothing Group. Love my #trike #bike for hauling cargo!

Is it just me, or do others also spend more on groceries when the weather turns colder? #trike #bike

So disappointed to read this.
A quick explainer on Montreal’s election:

The urbanist Projet Montréal party of outgoing mayor Valérie Plante has lost the election to the opposition Ensemble Montréal.

Projet deserves a *lot* of credit for Montreal’s transformation in the past 10 or 15 years to be more bike/pedestrian-friendly.

Have decided to keep myself on a permanent wake cycle, no more time changes for me! SO, my absolute wake up time remains the same year round, but on a relative clock, I will get up up one hour earlier for four months in winter. Will report again in four months. #StandardTime My cats will be happy.

If I got a measles vaccine in 2025 should it not be showing up on my Manitoba Immunization record, along with my flu, COVID and tetanus et al vaccines?

Ok, now I really want a pedestrian scramble intersection in Winnipeg if only for intermittent Celebrations!
A Canadian Celebration.
At Yonge & Dundas Jays fans are obeying the pedestrian scramble, as is the custom & returning to sidewalk each light cycle.

Also - in Finland, when you commute via bike, you get three tax breaks. France also gives a tax break for cyclist commuters. #yyccc could do the same if they were serious about parking and climate.

Recurring monthly donations via our Ko-fi are super helpful, but honestly what would make the most impact is if folks who were able to spend even a few hours a week volunteering with their local shelters to do TNR in their area. There are cats *everywhere* and TNR is the best way to help directly.

TNR doesn’t require space for fostering, or any special neonate skills, or even a very big vehicle to transport cats (I managed for 5 years with a small 4 door sedan!). It just requires a little training, a little patience, & makes a huge impact by immediately reduces the suffering of cat & kittens.

This one is too true!

Oh dear. #CBC #TheNational & Adrienne Arsenault , a driver of a vehicle crashing into a restaurant window is just that, a CRASH, or at least an incident. It is definitely not an Accident as you just said. It could have been prevented. You have just lost a long time viewer.

The ALT text is super descriptive & helpful. But I question how our 60 year old PM is an “older man” . Would they not both be middle aged if it is defined as early 40s to mid 60s.
It's great to live in a country where you can meet the prime minister and take a selfie together 😊🇨🇦

Continuous sidewalks!

A design that’s common in countries like Netherlands. We talked about it in Kitchener’s cycling & trails master plan working group & it’s great to see it become a part of road reconstruction! A model for other cities to emulate! (Both the working group approach & the design)
This is the key: the road comes up to get over the sidewalk, instead of the sidewalk ending and requiring a crosswalk

"shows that local politicians are stepping away from prioritizing the convenience of cars and looking at the safety of everyone involved" - This is what we all need in our cities.
“Worldwide, millions of people die every year on the roads, and that should be something that we don’t find acceptable.” Every city needs to take vision zero seriously. Winnipeg's "working toward zero" is not a commitment.
“We’re densifying our cities, we’re asking people to get out of their cars and move around, but we still have to coexist.” 🚗🚶🏽‍♀️

I would like to have this where I bike in my City! @cityofwinnipeg.bsky.social @bikeweekwpg.bsky.social
A short ride on Kitchener’s Wilson Ave. It’s a full utility reconstruction (not completed yet) on a local collector road, and the new streetscape has separated bike lanes and continuous sidewalks / bike lanes across side street intersections

I am heartbroken for Ellie and her moms. Really hoping she is found soon.
No sightings overnight, folks are looking around today and bringing traps, but the fear is that massive fireworks displays in the DC area tonight will panic her and drive her further from home so she may end up further than expected. Please keep an eye out if you’re in Temple Hills, MD.
