On a panel at a con a couple of years back, I mentioned a fanfic I wrote in 2016, and a fellow panelist exclaimed, "THAT WAS YOU!!???!!!"

And I will be chasing that dragon *forever*.
Author Goals:
To have a stranger, upon learning I write, ask me if they've heard of my work. Then when I tell them my name and some titles, they say, "OMG! I *have* read your stuff!"

To see someone reading my book in the wild so I can say, "That's my book" to them.

I'm at S3E23. Around halfway through.

Headed into my favorite half hour in television history.

Jeff Goldblum handed me a spoon.
Entered a service station urinal at the same time Morrisey was leaving it.
Quietly shared an elevator with Lyle Lovett.

Whoever originally had the idea to put a sausage patty on a biscuit and eat it like a sandwich is my personal hero.

I'm a femme cis woman who's queer, disabled, and have been traditionally published as a fantasy author since 2018 and I AM STILL NOBODY.
There is no such thing as "breaking in". There's only doing the work.
We are all nobody in the book world when we start out. That's what "starting" means. And no one "breaks in" by attending a single in-person convention. Anecdotal evidence suggests I might be the Princess of Genova, but no one's lining up to crown me.
This shit is made up, actually

ALL OF THIS
But here's the thing: when I wrote my first book, I was bad at writing books. So I re-wrote it about a dozen times, and in the process, I learned how to be good at writing books. When I wrote my first sonnet, I was bad at writing sonnets, and so on. It's the process of learning to EXECUTE...

Happy Christmas, Yule, Solstice, Hogswatch, Komasnacht, or whatever other story of the season brings you joy tonight.

The actual most fun part of being a parent [for me] is the putting out the Santa gifts & stocking stuff on Christmas Eve. It used to feel like a bigger deal when kiddo was little, but it's still super fun when months of scheming is paying off.
Happy Christmas to all who celebrate!

My kid is sick (not flu or COVID but sick). It's Christmas Eve.
Those Cornish hens can stay in the fridge another day or two. There's no way I'm making anything fancy or complicated on a night my kid is unlikely to eat at all. 😕

Happy Hogswatch friends!
The tipping and tapping on top of the roof,
The swish of a sleigh and the stomp of a hoof,
As the squeals and the snorts echo out through the night
We know that the Hogfather's started his flight.

Anyway...
I just ate 33 McNuggets and I regret nothing.
The McNugget first came to my attention in 1983 and I STG those little chunks of golden deliciousness have had me in a chokehold ever since.

Reached the end of S2 of this West Wing rewatch and Two Cathedrals remains a perfect hour of television.

My mascara is DOOMED.

My kid asked me to take them TO A MUSICAL. So, obviously we're here. We have snacks and merch and we're waiting for the house to open.
They have not yet figured out our seats are in the front row.

I do get dressed, but often in what I call "daytime pajamas". I save my nighties for actual sleep.
question for the masses I'm curious about
(if any parts of this don't apply to you, use your imagination)

you're working from home, you have no plan to leave home at all today, you sleep in some sort of clothes

do you get changed in the day or are you in your sleep clothes all day?

I actually took a cut scene from one book and put it in the sequel. It really can happen.

put them to bed, cover them up with a comfy blanket, give them some hot cocoa, let them live in Deleted-Scenes-I-Might-Use.docx

I alpha read this book and I promise y'all, it's worth reading ❤️
I can’t believe I get to share the beginning of Glassblade with people a week from tomorrow. Early access subscribers get the first piece on Christmas Day. Almost 13 years coming, which is fitting, given the story itself.
