For those of you who followed me bc of MOFs, here is a look at some of what I do! I'm a faculty member at a PUI, so we don't publish a lot, but we do some pretty cool work! (imo) Hope you enjoy 😄
Structural diversity and solvent-induced transformations of a copper-based metal–organic framework with highly aromatic ligands
A newly designed tetracarboxylic acid ligand precursor 5,5′-([9,9′-bianthracene]-10,10′-diyl)diisophthalic acid (H4BADI) has been used to prepare a series of copper-based metal–organic frameworks (MOF...

The Supreme Court case tomorrow is fundamentally not about gender affirming care, it's about whether or not trans people have any protections under the 14th amendment. A loss in this case would greenlight a torrent of explicitly discriminatory legislation without much, if any judicial recourse.

1. The conventional explanation for food deserts—that these places are too poor or too rural to generate enough spending on groceries, or too Black to overcome racist corporate redlining — fail to grapple with a key fact: food deserts didn’t used to exist. My new piece in The Atlantic.

Friendly neighborhood political scientist here to remind you that everything is political, including and sometimes especially science. In fact, claiming your vocation is apolitical is itself a political claim with a political goal.
In the wake of the U.S. election, Natl Academy of Sciences President Marcia McNutt has authored a spot-on editorial in Science, stressing the apolitical nature of science and how it remains vital to informing a lot of public policy. Best read all week!! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I'm grateful for publishers doing name changes post-publication. It's great to not cringe when I see my previous publications. But, why is @acspublications.bsky.social taking so long to make the changes?

I'm having a rough few days. Stress about promotion app, stress about making progress on recent project, and general feelings of blegh. Today, I got word I was not selected for an award I had been hopeful about. BUT, my reissued diplomas came in today, and I'm so thrilled about it! It's a good day!
