Love working in higher education. Have always had rescued dogs and cats (almost all from abusive situations). Philadelphia is my home (yes, I say "wudder"). Accessibility advocate & teach how to make content electronically accessible. Democrat.
To all the "alpha males"--I triple dog dare you to mimic Trump's latest look of cotton candy pink hair and orange makeup. How alpha do you feel when people are looking at you sideways?

He made a deal with Pootie-poot ages ago about this. And he is living in the past where oil reigned supreme. He's been denigrating renewable energy to this end.
Very few of our representatives have a spine anymore. I get more hope from fellow Americans as we try to keep our country alive.
This is blatantly illegal. A president can’t go into the oil business and then decide where to spend the money. We are completely untethered from our founding document with a lawless president and a Republican Congress which has abdicated all Constitutional authority.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act is a law, passed by Congress on November 19 with an overwhelming vote. Complying with it was not optional. The Department of Justice did not comply.

I want to make sure this is very clear.

5:00 a.m.--Our neighbor decides it's a great idea to run his leaf blower over his car to get rid of the coating of snow we got overnight.
Dude--a broom/brush works better and is much quieter. You inconsiderate schmuck.
His car is still in his driveway, btw. #GoodMorning

Woke up to a pretty coating of snow. My goal for this year? Being able to walk unassisted. It's going to be a lot of pain and tears, but 2026 is the year.

Like a step in a good direction.

I didn't know this woman's 500-year-old story, but she is the perfect reaction face to so many headlines these days.
I love this painting.
There's such a hidden story there.
Is the painter being annoying?
Is the painting meant to be put above the snack drawer her already chunky husband keeps raiding?
Or is she judging us through the mists of time?

I'm thinking of Trump sitting alone at one end of a barely-populated dinner table looking for any camera aimed his way. Pitiful if he weren't so deserving of ostracism.
Karma is real and can never be denied

Yesterday my husband took Winnie to the vet for her shots. Winnie is happy and mellow and adorable, and apparently the vet's office has fallen under her spell. The vet tech pointed out a previous vet's notes that included: "sweetest dog ever." Winnie is proof that every dog deserves a chance.

"...a 200,000-light-year-long contrail of newborn stars." Like babies following their mama.
Researchers using the JWST have confirmed the first supersonic Runaway Supermassive Black Hole (~7.8 bly away) ejected by and racing away from its host galaxy at 3.43 million km/h, leaving behind a 200,000-light-year-long "contrail" of newborn stars.

I'm juuuust about asleep and the snowplow grinds down the street sounding like a Sherman tank. The noise recedes and I'm back to that blissful allllmost asleep stage and GRACCCCKKKGRRR, the Sherman tank is back for Round 2.

So I'm up.

Meanwhile I worked every week with crippling pain and am terrified of the bills I'm going to incur with my essential surgery next year. Mike Johnson and his cronies can go jump off a cliff.

Guess his family didn't invite him to holiday gatherings.

No filter, no restraint. Nothing new, but in light of the latest Epstein releases, he made yet another failed attempt to deflect attention. This time from infanticide and torture of multiple barely post-pubescent girls.

He'll die alone.
He let loose almost 200 unhinged posts on Christmas Day.

You’d think someone would have wrestled his phone away after 20, 40 or even a hundred posts.

They know he’s too far gone.

They also know he won’t escape the Epstein fallout.

They’re letting him make his case for the 25th amendment.

We finished watching "Death by Lightning" and I now have so much more knowledge of who Garfield was and mourn how much more equitable our nation could be right now if he had lived. I plan to read more about him and Chester A. Arthur. But man, what we could possibly have been.
Watch the series. A+

Jim Beam (based in Kentucky) is pausing production in January 2026. Don't try to argue it's anything but FAFO. But since Trump is against alcohol, it won't matter to him, I bet.

My husband and I got our COVID boosters this morning. My wheelchair juuuust fit through the opening to the injection area. Most of the aisles had stuff in them, which made getting to the back a maze-type of experience. Do better, CVS.
Glad I got the shot, though! #disability #ADA #wheelchairlife

This is the coolest creature I've seen today, hands down.

I originally thought it was a lovely glass piece. But it's so much cooler than that; it's more closely related to humans than to the jellyfish it resembles!

Capone was brought down by not paying his taxes. Would love it if license plates brought the downfall of ICE. A girl can dream...
In Illinois, ICE agents have been documented swapping license plates to hide their identity. Under Illinois law, this constitutes a Class A misdemeanor.

The state has made clear that this law will be enforced. Federal agents are not exempt from Illinois vehicle and registration statutes.
