The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

FLAG: The Trump admin has told states to "immediately undo" any actions to provide full food stamp benefits to low-income families for the month of November — threatening financial penalties if they do not comply.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

You dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

You screwed the American people.

One of the talking points I keep seeing from Democrats is that part of the deal is that it will "ensure federal workers receive back pay" but that's the existing law!

That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.

This is not a deal — it's an empty promise.

Trump and his Republican Congress are making healthcare more expensive for the middle class and ending it for working families.

Time for Democrats to stand tall for affordable healthcare. www.politico.com/news/2025/11...

Every person in science I talked to yesterday brought up the filibuster. (!!)

So I recorded a video explainer on it.

Should we be worried about getting rid of the filibuster?
In short, no. Though there are a few wrinkles.

As SNAP funds froze, mayors and governors have pledged to supplement the missing federal assistance, while federal judges ruled Friday that the Trump administration should use contingency funds to keep food aid running despite the government shutdown.

Dr. Weinberg was a MOSAIC scholar and awardee. A brilliant scientist with a strong community service record. Her contribution to making science a safer and better place will never be forgotten. She will be in our hearts forever. 🩷🌷🩷
Zara Weinberg passed away earlier this week. She joined my lab earlier this year when her postdoc lab formally closed.
She was a brilliant scientist, supportive mentor, dear friend, avid music fan, rabid believer in public transit, open science champion, and above all just an amazing human.
