sorry to keep going on about this but you don't need famous people or teal man or unwell fc to sell this league, these players and these games are enough. i promise.

Trump threw another lavish party as his DOJ asked the Supreme Court to stop it from being forced to pay food stamps for 40 million Americans.
Yes, this is *different* from last week’s Gatsby party. www.thedailybeast.com/trump-hosts-...

Did anyone else at Audi notice the *long* conversation between Croix and Berman on the field after the win? (I did bc my son was holding up her jersey screaming her name the whole time. 😬) I’m hoping they were talking about the BWPC letter and the league falling short. Preach! #ThatsTheSpirit #nwsl

NWSL has been standing still and hoping no one notices, and in all likelihood a Black player who stood up for others — in the absence of proper moral leadership from the league — is going to have the right-wing rage machine aimed directly at her.

And everyone saw it coming.
It might seem easy to stand still and hope no one notices during these particularly hellish times, but NWSL is not in a position to do that without putting human beings in danger.

Also as several colleagues have noted, the photo choice here is absolutely intentional and points in a grim direction.
Deeply disappointed in Liz Eddy here, who I've always liked and respected. A reminder that we have a lot of work to do when it comes to educating the public about why trans inclusion isn't just morally correct, but competitively sound share.google/Gjf9a1Sl01eL...

like every other nwsl team get the fuck up the players of angel city shouldn't be facing this bullshit alone
And THIS is why I said at least every captain needed to speak and be unified. Guess who is gonna get the hate from the Fox News crowd now? Sarah Gorden, that's who. The only Black captain. Okay, going back to work now.
Fox News has picked up Elizabeth Eddy’s column, and the response from the Angel City players.

I’m hearing Eddy will appear on Fox and Friends tomorrow morning.

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

2025 is the first time in my life without a daily print newspaper. It’s been hard and feels wrong but it’s also right. I couldn’t stomach what I was paying for anymore.
"The Washington Post’s average paid daily circulation has dropped below 100,000 for the first time in 55 years...It's the sort of figure you’d expect to see from a mid-size regional paper...Not from a globally recognized newsroom with multiple Pulitzers to its name."

It’s never lost on me that NWSL pays for PRO2 level referees because they can’t/won’t pay for the PRO level and at some point, all the owners in the league are going to need to talk about that if they want to be serious
Trinity Rodman speaks out on the refereeing in yesterday’s Spirit-Wave game. (You probably know this, but poor officiating has been a theme across the league this NWSL season.)

“This is one of many examples…. Refs need to be better at managing these games. No words”

This is something that is fairly easily fixed with money. NWSL chooses to use PRO2 referees.

It's telling that owners are cool with investing in nice stadiums because of the real estate play they get along with it, but paying a marginal % of that to improve play on the field is a bridge too far.
