People should hate conservatives more imo
This begs the question.
My mistake has been trying to explain what "fascism" is to people who don't care what it is.

So I'm going to try something else. Let's do this as a practical thought exercise.

If America *were* fascist *today* - what would you have to do differently in your daily life? /1

The 2004 remake of the Manchurian Candidate was not a particularly good movie, but casting Jon Voight as a longtime progressive senator was a good bit.

Of course, this outcome is better than the alternative and a good sign for 2026 and 2028, but *everything* that voters hate about the trump administration and Republican policies was predictable (or at least within the realm of possibility) if you were a moderately informed voter in 2024.
NYT: “.. Hispanic areas that shifted the most to the left in 2025 were virtually a mirror image of the places that had swung the farthest to the right ..

“Trump’s surge .. may have been fleeting, or at least not transferable to other candidates ..”

I’m convinced that the now you see me films are some sort of elaborate tax dodge. A franchise of caper films about magicians featuring an ensemble cast of famous actors that no person I’ve spoken to has ever seen or, seemingly, even heard of.

Would it be funnier if this was 1,000 words by Ross Douthat arguing that Sydney Sweeney needs to do a topless scene or 1,000 words by Ross Douthat arguing literally anything else
Oh God, why are you punishing us?

It’s still funny to me that Jeff Bezos and his ex-Murdoch rag editor fired Kessler without (seemingly) understanding that his moronic “fact-checking” was powerful tool of conservative propaganda.
I just remembered this from Glenn Kessler 3 months ago

Republican President Donald Trump, longtime leader of the conservative movement, is a pedophile.
Breaking News: House Democrats released emails in which Jeffrey Epstein alleged that Donald Trump knew of the convicted sex offender's conduct and “spent hours at my house” with a victim.

Fuck this guy and definitely fuck trump, but an interesting fact from the article is that his sentence was commuted in 2020 because his family had a connection to Jared kushner and hired Alan Dershowitz lobby on his behalf, but he was represented by a federal defender in his recent case.
A felon whose sentence President Trump commuted in the final hours of his first term was sentenced to 27 months in prison on Monday after being accused of a range of criminal conduct — including physical and sexual assault — since Trump freed him. nyti.ms/3LSL8nC

On the latest Know Your Enemy, they play the clip of trump on the 2024 campaign trail telling Christian voters that if they vote for him this time, they’ll never have to vote again, and I didn’t realize (or forgot) that trump says at one point “I love you, Christians. I’m not Christian” lmao
I think it’s trump saying the phrase “our cherished christians,” three words he has never uttered in that order until this very moment.
