Tech bros cheering on the cuts to grant funding built businesses and wealth on the back of decades of university R&D work. Much of that knowledge was given away to the public. This is basic pulling-up-the-ladder nonsense via rewriting history. They owe the public, not the other way around.

That’s not even to mention the ethical considerations of our theology of the incarnation and the dignity of every human being in legislating that pregnant people must carry a life-threatening pregnancy to term, even if it costs them their lives.

It is a matter of theology and doctrine for the Episcopal Church, for example, that lgbtqia people are children of God, same sex marriages are holy, and trans identities are both real and valid; that refugees are welcome, and that immigrants are God’s children. And that’s just the Episcopal Church.

When our so-called “liberal” churches discover religious freedom and the RFRA legal arguments that have led us to the point where we are today with the theocratic religious right’s hegemony, we’re going to have a long overdue national conversation and some very important court cases.
