Today is the official day of freedom for Europe. In Denmark we celebrate evening 4. and the day of May 5.
Normally I don't post private stuff here, but the old mr. Hansen (the Hansen in Madsen by Hansen) still remembers the day.

Inventarliste mm brugt til at anskueliggøre hvornår delene bajonet, skede og bærerem var i brug for Madsen militærriffel M49 (eller hvad man nu kalder den). Det ser ud til at bæreremmen blev ændret til en læderrem i 1956.

Did my civic duty yesterday acting as a Polling official at the municipal election.
Learned that:
The first person to vote has to confirm that the ballot box is empty.
That the counting of votes is public and as a citizen you can go watch.
*10 hour, unpaid, volunteer position. long day but fun.

My kids made me watch Velocipastor!

There is not such a thing as too much decoration this time of year!
I recommend this place for HW and yule ornaments. Hand blown with silver lining, some are even free blown like this frog. More traditional HW ornaments are also available

There is not such a thing as too much decoration this time of year!

#OTD 19 September 1991, walkers in the high Ötztal alps on the Italian border, found a body melting out of the ice. It turned out to be the remains of a c.5200 year old man preserved with all his kit.
Of course, it was essential to replicate him in Playmobil.

A marvelous thread about a Norvegian warsship turned British … or something along those lines. Read it and (what is the opposite of rejoice?).
This thing here, exhibit A in "the danger of leaving our ships to melt in the hot sun", is HMS Glatton.
