"Vacation arguments are real arguments with wings; they reveal a bird’s-eye-view of yourself, a perspective you’d never seen before and swore didn’t exist."

A perfect & eerie end-of-summer story!!!

Through "managed decay" and a master plan, this piece shows how Highgate Cemetery maintains its mystique, embodying the fragile interplay between history, nature, and our need to memorialize.

Writing the first draft of a novel is brutal. But nothing compares to your sweet six-year-old daughter looking you in the eyes and saying, "When I'm a grown-up, I don't want to write. I want to be FREE."

Israel hasn't stopped gunning down the Palestinians they're starving, as those Palestinians try to feed themselves

There is nothing wrong with continuing to say it: these are war crimes, this is genocide, this is murder. It must be stopped, and those perpetrating the crimes must be held accountable

among the many wild things about this, gonna safely assume RFK doesn’t know how high suicide and depression rates are for actual farmers (bc of industrial agriculture companies making their livelihoods impossible)
RFK Jr said he wants to send folks who are taking antidepressants and ADHD medications to "wellness farms" in rural America where they will be forced to labor by growing organic food to "cure their addictions."

I read "Evangelina Concepcion" by Ani Sison Cooney recently, and it brought me to tears. The story is set in LA and is so sad and beautiful and relevant; it begs us to consider whose stories we tell during a tragedy and whose we ignore. www.likewisefiction.com/episodes/eva...
