There's a huge need for forensic digital preservation of these and other documents uncovered in Syria for future accountability, understanding the fates of tens of thousands of people, and identifying perpetrators to bring to justice.
🚨🚨 Discovery of a huge secret underground archive library belonging to the #Assad regime, containing files, documents, and reports of informants, which the informants prepared on civilians.

📌#Reports written by informants from 1980 until now, reports that are absolutely unimaginable.

We are likely to see Saydnaya prison liberated soon from the Assad regime. Between 2011 and 2015 alone the Assad regime hanged as many as 13,000 civilians in Saydnaya prison. Some of the worst horrors committed by the regime have been in Saydnaya.

Sednaya prison is a few meters away To free the prisoners from inside .

Sednaya Prison is known for the tragic loss of thousands of detainees who lost their lives under torture under Assad's regime, and many more remain imprisoned there.

Bassel Safadi was a Palestinian-Syrian open source software developer (and an acquaintance of mine through Global Voices).

He was arrested in 2012 and then executed by the Assad regime in 2015. We only found out in 2017 when the regime updated some death records and his name was on it.

Please let it be true.

Thinking today of all the families who will find their loved ones, and the many more who will not.

Of all Assad atrocities, the Syrian Gulag is the most deliberate, long lasting, relentless, cruel..... the core of his regime, the source of his control. Demonic.

The Lebanese imprisoned in Assad’s prisons were first imprisoned during the Assad regime’s occupation of Lebanon. During this ‘Pax Syriana’ of 1990-2005, the Lebanese state collaborated with the Syrian one to effectively declare them all dead. This man was just released after 40 years.
A Lebanese man from Akkar, detained in prisons for 40 years, named “Ali Hassan Al-Ali,” has been freed today by the Syrian people from Bashar Al-Assad’s prisons.
