Being disabled while the US healthcare collapses is fun because I never know when my meds will go back in stock and it’s always a guess at what I will be medicated for and what I will not that month 🤗

Lottie took a fall down the not-yet-built stairs this weekend (she’s fine just traumatized) and since then has not left my side🥺💕

My parents sheltered me from lots of media but the one thing I’m thankful for is I never read or loved Harry Potter or the fandom 😅 Really dodged a bullet with that one.

You weren’t “high-functioning.”
You were masking.

You weren’t “coping.”
You were dissociating.

You weren’t “fine.”
You were in burnout.

They praised your performance.
But never saw the cost.

You deserved care.
Not applause.

When you're chronically ill, your baseline is everything. Sometimes it's easy to forget just how much even minimal amounts of functioning can mean to you... until you lose it.

It takes almost nothing to lose function, and a ton of effort to regain it.

Never apologize for protecting your baseline.

A 2024 study shows that people with POTS have much less peripheral eye tracking than nondisabled peers. This makes so much sense why when my POTS is flaring, large chunks of the world ✨disappear✨. Add in autism’s processing issues to begin with, and it is hard to navigate many places.

Maybe it’s a #lupus #butterflyrash? Maybe it’s Maybelline? 🤪

(Fun fact I’ve had doctors say I didn’t have lupus because my rash also comes on in fluorescent lights…there’s been studies since the 80S!! saying this is normal for lupus patients 🙃)

I love how #autisticburnout tips are like “do less” “rest more” and “prioritize only the important things” because I’m pretty sure the way to get out of burnout is planting daffodils and taking on new home construction projects you’ve never done before and piling on more and more to your to do list

Disability justice isn’t about access as a checklist.

It’s about refusing to treat care as optional.

It’s about building worlds where bodyminds like ours aren’t forced to adapt or disappear.

It’s not charity.

It’s not pity.

It’s collective survival.

And we don’t need to be grateful.

Really need more of the people who are fighting against fascism to understand that disability justice is absolutely, axiomatically fundamental to that fight.
