Important thread about what is happening to immigrants after they are snatched off the streets. We have to face this and take action, we cannot allow this to continue.
I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

I will say, there is something in how this reactionary political movement nationalizes southern plantation cultural production to enact their fascist plan to break nation-states into corporately controlled economic zones. Talk about the afterlives of slavery. Whew.
Crocodile tears from a sociopathic southern white woman.

Boosting!

ICE just abandons the people they've illegally kidnapped sometimes thousands of miles from home. Help them get home.
Okay! This has already inspired a bunch of DMs, so I made a page on the website. If you have 50,000+ Skymiles and would be willing to book flights to get someone home, please fill this out.

Babies too young to be vaccinated. This is exactly what happens when you imprison people while there is an active, highly contagious (& preventable) outbreak on the rise.

Is there a way to pressure them to at least release the babies and their families &/or to get folks who are unvaccinated vaxed?

Feb. 1, 1960, 4 NC A&T students sat-in at the “whites only” counter at Woolworths in Greensboro. Their defiance ignited a movement led to the birth of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.

Young people fuel movements. It is inspiring to see that today they still do.

heartbreaking cruelty
ICE "denied a detained Texas man's request for temporary release to attend this Thursday's planned funeral for his" son.

"Maher was his caregiver, his father, his best friend, his everything."

ICE "killed him when they took his father away."

We need to be more creative in our thinking and in our actions. I've seen posts on FB lamenting the fact that the Feds are tearing down exhibits etc...

But this is not the final word. It's an opportunity to do other things to spread the word and educate people.

I ask my clients what they have to lose?

At this point, it’s nothing. Go ahead and follow that dream; the worst that happens is it ends terribly and you have to survive it. This is America; we’re barely surviving anyway.

You might find joy. Joy is worth everything.

ICE murdered Renée Good in broad daylight. Less than 3 weeks later, they killed Alex Pretti, shooting him 10 times. Every day, we watch as people are ripped from their cars, their homes, their lives.

We can't allow ourselves to look away from this cruelty. Abolish ICE.

People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.

In reality Black American and intersectional thinkers continued to use liberalism's foundations to expand the structure of rights those foundations supported. And as they gained cultural traction, social salience and political purchase, white liberals moved the goalposts of "true" liberalism.

This is arguably a blueprint for how Black people should engage with the current moment if you ask me. We should allow our survival to inspire community, art, and intellectual thought that expands what opportunity is for us even amidst the chaos. #blacksky
Just finished this right after having read @hofrench.bsky.social's Second Emancipation, and it convinced me that the African & African diaspora anti-colonial thinkers of the 1940-1975 period constituted one of the great intellectual movements in the history of humankind.

Second Enlightenment level.
We think of the postwar world order as having been built by the US. But as Getachew makes clear, that world order was completed by the intellectual giants of the African, pan-African and African diaspora liberation movements.

It is no coincidence Trump & Miller are targeting its fundamental tenet.

"Deaths from hypothermia [..] due to Israel's defiance of its obligations to allow in caravans and shelter materials."

"A one-week old infant named Mahmoud Al-Aqra died."

"A one-year old baby, also in Deir al-Balah, died."
