When I was a child, I learned that the Constitution didn’t apply to people like us. I said the Pledge of Allegiance from inside a barbed wire camp, the words “with liberty and justice for all” wholly meaningless.

We're getting to a point where you now encounter young people asking about Old Internet as if they want to know about a glorious bygone time. More and more I think the best way to explain it is to say look at Wikipedia. Simple, direct, run by enthusiasts. No SEO, algorithm-chasing, etc.
