☆ Rumeysa Ozturk, a Turkish Muslim graduate student at Tufts University in Massachusetts, was detained and taken by plain-clothed, masked “agents” while walking on her way to have iftar to break her fast on Tuesday, March 25th. She had a valid visa and no criminal record. #freerumeysa

Her name is Rumeysa Ozturk, she's a student from Turkey, and even her lawyer doesn't know where she is right now.
Ozturk's attorney tells me they still have no idea where she is. ICE says only that she is in the agency's custody. www.salon.com/2025/03/26/d...

i work at a bookstore that supplies books to schools and libraries. tariffs on books would be DEVASTATING for the schools here, which already have very limited budgets for purchasing new books. it appears that both canadians and americans can comment on this form, so please voice your opposition!!
Canadians, part of the proposed tariffs for April is a 25% tariffs on books. This would be devastating for Canada's book industry, with very little impact on the US.

You can voice your opposition to this particular tariff using the form below:

half the time when people come out of indie movies like “this thing is full of plotholes, i have so many questions” i’m like. i think those are just questions the movie would like you to ponder on your own time. like when you read a book in grade school & then your teacher asks you about the similes

“the film refuses to complicate elisabeth’s relationship with sue beyond a dynamic of competition” but the culmination of that arc IS the complication…elisabeth ultimately chooses not to kill “sue” because she can’t let go of everything sue represents. of COURSE she loves sue, and also hates her
