No leader in a functioning democracy invokes death as punishment for dissent.

The President’s suggestion that lawmakers should face death for upholding the rule of law is not political rhetoric — it’s an authoritarian threat that shatters every democratic norm.
The League of Women Voters issued a statement condemning President Trump's claims that lawmakers' dissent equals 'seditious behavior'. This is an authoritarian threat that shatters every democratic norm! Read the statement on our website.

Voter registration in the United States has never been solely the work of our government. It has always been a shared and celebrated responsibility, with civic groups providing the energy, equity and local communities that government institutions struggle to reach.
LWV CEO @thecelinafactor.bsky.social , and HeadCount executive director Lucille Wenegieme shared the value of nonpartisan third-party voter registration in light of restrictions that prohibits nonpartisan groups from registering voters and naturalization ceremonies.

That statement is demonstrably false. When government officials deny documented reality, they erode public trust and undermine accountability. LWV believes in transparency, facts, and the constitutional rights of ALL Americans.

US citizens deserve the truth — and they deserve better.
Kristi Noem: “There's no American citizens that have been arrested or detained. We focus on those that are here illegally. And anything that you would hear or report that would be different than that is simply not true and false reporting.”
