My mom died when I was 17. I only have a handful of pictures and zero videos of her. A couple years ago, on my birthday, I got a text from a number I didn’t recognize. It simply said “happy birthday” with a YouTube link. I clicked it and my heart stopped. It was my mom.

This book was so damn good. Great reminder of what made cinema of the 70’s so incredible. Authenticity was everything. Character actors as leads. Interesting over beautiful. Hollywood taking risks. It’s coming back. I see it in all the great indies and original horror. I’m ready.

I know this is a joke but it really does go to show why movies were better back in the day. People looking relatable, even if very attractive, is way more interesting than everyone looking perfect. Bring back the leading actors who look like they’ve been through some shit.
