No, the FAA did not recruit people with intellectual disabilities to work as air traffic controllers. Despite what the President said about anti-discrimination programs. My story @npr.org www.npr.org/2025/01/30/n...
People with intellectual disabilities do lots of jobs–but they don't direct air traffic
After the fatal crash over the Potomac River, the President says diversity hiring has made the skies unsafe, but that's not how disability hiring works

I am getting spotty reports of hospital systems in blue states cancelling gender affirming care appointments for those under 19 years of age.

If true, this would be a major problem, as systems comply with illegal EOs in advance out of fear of DOJ weaponization.

Please let me know if yours has.

Just a reminder that there are real human beings, with families, who are having their financial and professional lives turned upside down tonight by the richest man in the world, who has a string of his own families he’s abandoned, and who was not elected to anything.

Two days after the election, I asked my GYN for a sterilization referral. I knew, even more than before, that I couldn’t risk trusting the government with my life and safety. So I’m taking it into my own hands. Now, just waiting on a surgery date to have my tubes taken out and my mind set at ease.

Some people love public libraries but never set foot in them.
My challenge to you is - set foot in them. How often is up to you. Why? Because we take stats of occupancy that helps us get or keep funding.
Set a goal to physically set foot in any/all public libraries once a week, once a month...

Getting some reports that ASL interpreters are being fired across federal agencies. Not sure to the extent yet. Obviously in violation of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. But with the DOJ Civil Rights Division frozen and general law-breaking plentiful, unsure of recourse rn.

Listen to me very fucking carefully:

We need you. We fucking need __you__

There's no one else who can replace you in this fight — and it is a fight. And if you aren't fucking here anymore? That means you cannot contribute, we cannot replace you and we fucking need you.

Breaking: DOJ freezes all cases in civil rights division. "It’s unprecedented. We’ve never seen this before at this scale with any transfer of power, regardless of the ideology of any incoming president or administration." Story w/ @perrystein.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...
Justice Department freezes all cases in civil rights division
The directives halt ongoing civil rights cases and could jeopardize police reform agreements finalized in recent months in Minneapolis and Louisville.

Struggling to identify what crime they’re going to allege against an elected official acting within the scope of their official duty consistent with state law, where sovereign immunity usually applies in the civil context.

This is a stretch and that’s putting it mildly.

I can't even begin to explain how problematic this is.
New: Trump officials have paused all external communications at health agencies like CDC, FDA, NIH.

No health alerts and the famed MMWRs; no updates to key websites or social media posts.

And no indication how long the pause will last.

The agencies are charged with making decisions that touch the lives of every American and are the source of crucial information to health-care providers.
