I'm delighted to announce the release of my new novel "The Shadow Minister", just published by Water Dragon.

A mashup of fantasy romance, police procedural, and cosmic horror set in Lutèce, a magical version of early 20th century Paris.

For those following the Red Ogre Review saga, he has made good on his promise to change his licensing terms...by doubling down.

On left: the original (awful) license. On right: the new license, mostly the same as the old license, but with some additions that I've circled in red.

My novella "Pâtissier et Étranger" will be released very soon!

Do you like baking? Intrigue? Adventure? Romance? All that went into the batter, and the result is about to come out of the oven.... Does "cozy thriller" even make sense? Hm.

As always I'd be happy to send a review ebook on request.

Hideous licensing agreement from Red Ogre Review, but what really jumps out at me is the moral rights waiver
Red Ogre (@ogre.red) gets rights to your work upon *submission*.

And those rights are ridiculous. They can change your work, not credit you, use your work for advertising, or put it in an anthology.

Don't submit to this one, folks.

If I'm not mistaken they paid P.G. Wodehouse $5,000 for a short story back in the 1920s, the equivalent of $80,000 today.

What a pathetic and disgraceful fall.
Venerable magazine Harper's Bazaar is running its short story contest again, with the winner receiving "the chance" of publication in the magazine. Just one catch: per the wording of the guidelines, _just by entering_ you transfer copyright ownership of your story to Harper's parent, Hearst. 1/3

After Nixon was forced to resign, Republicans took the lesson not to stop being corrupt, but to demolish shared reality.

After Romney lost with scant minority support, Republicans took the lesson not to stop being racist, but to demolish democracy.

Once Trump is gone, what lesson will they take?

This is unreal. An AUSA talking like that in open court is about as close as you can come to a total breakdown. Never heard of anything like it.
