Today is our 37th anniversary. No congratulations needed. It was not an obstacle course, climbing Everest without oxygen or curing cancer. I mean, I got to hang out with my best friend, do fun stuff, solve problems, count pennies, raise a great kid, and laugh a lot. It's not an exploit: it's luck.

I would fire on the spot anyone who wrote sophomoric drivel like this. I especially cringed at this pretentious self-parody:
"I was musing about all this one day with Craig Mundie, the former head of research and strategy at Microsoft.

Ah! Home sweet home. Atlético Ottawa wins the championship!
This is the Canadian Premier League soccer finals and we have a bicycle kick goal in the middle of a blizzard … and that’s the most Canadian thing I’ve ever seen 😂

The whole precept of modern technology (chatbots, AI tutors, autonomous taxis, hatred of public transit and libraries, etc.) is that you should never have to interact with anyone you haven't chosen. Ever. It's antithetical to living in a society, with actual humans, where everything is a compromise.

Listening to NONE BUT THE LONELY HEART by Chris Anderson (p) and Charlie Haden (db). New to me. The opposite of pyrotechnics: fewer notes, but the right ones. Perfect for Sunday enjoyment. Jazzsky #jazz

Had to stop watching "LE CAIRE • NID D'ESPIONS" on the plane after 15 minutes because of uncontrolled laughter. Had forgotten how ridiculously funny Jean Dujardin can be.
