On top of everything else, Deltarune understands the RPG genre
Deltarune is many things, but it is also in conversation with RPGs and their design. I believe this is worth unpacking.

Deltarune is beloved by many, for a variety of reasons. But as much as an immensely popular and talked about game can be undiscussed, I think its RPG systems aren't given enough credit, relatively speaking.

Woke up in the middle of the night filled with artistic inspiration and ideas, which sounds great (and it was) but I am now living in a post "waking up in the middle of the night" world.

There's a small part of me that's like "noooooooo, the part you can skip in NG+ of silent hill f has a couple of minor changes in lines of dialogue!!!!!"
...but given a lot of players were put off from doing a second run due to that sequence specifically, I think it's the right call

Gnosia english dub is very strong so far
Love to hear a bunch of non-binary voice talent for the related roles of course, and everyone is knocking it out of the park generally, but SQ's VA truly understood the assignment for the first episode.

What I really appreciate about Pokémon ZA is that while it's very easy to overlevel due to all the sidequests and exp items, the game does have the courage to sometimes say

Seven fucking months in someone has commented on the pronouns in my teams bio (and was nice about it), change really is possible
"how does this lead to me being gendered as non-binary at work" look, I'm working on that part, but I don't feel like I'm pretending to be someone I'm not, which is better. And maybe if I find someone else who's queer they'd notice at least.

Without getting into too many details for obvious, spoilery reasons, there's something rather elegant in how silent hill f's opening hour on new game plus manages to provide clarity for players who need it, while also putting asshole players who think they know everything (me) in their place

Finished Wanderstop. It has been a STACKED year for excellent indie titles, and I'm glad I made time to go back to this one. It rules!

I have so many positive thoughts about this game, it might be the best AA game period, but I'll keep it to this:
The new localisation is great. AA has always been strong in this regard, but they've been knocking it out of the park recently.

Returning to the original ace attorney investigations for the first time in years, armed with the experience of playing other games in the genre and reading more visual novels and books.
It's fascinating to play a game that is *so* mechanically focused, even on a narrative level.

If anyone says that Ryukishi is a bad artist in 2025, they are wrong
Like they were always wrong to some extent (he was imitating a specific art style for Higurashi, it's just an unusual one), but in 2025 his art is genuinely super charming and characterful in ways that some others struggle with
