Defenestratable criticism of an emergent distopia
Just saw these stickers aboard a lifted Dodge Ram with one of those very loud mufflers driven by, you guessed it, a 5'8 angry-AF-looking 'alpha' man. The HUK is harmless but Nine Lines? Not so much. 1/

😳 “The leader of Canada's official opposition Conservatives, Pierre Poilievre, [has] secured a return to Parliament. (Joe Lonsdale—who co-founded Palantir with Peter Thiel—has bragged that former Canadian PM Stephen Harper was his “friend & advisor” & that Harper had “mentored” Poilievre.) 1/

What keeps my soldering station hot? Definitely not the inquisition of a probabilistic word prediction machine. GPT-5 is asking follow-up questions that are not welcome!

Bill C-2 lets Canadian cops demand users' info without a warrant—and it paves the way for that info to go to U.S. government agencies.

The government is talking about cuts so deep that they will exceed those that laid waste to the women’s sector during the Harper years. It is the same story playing out in Washington—the only significant difference is that Canadian policymakers are doing it without the hateful rhetoric.

Mark Carney promised “elbows up” against the US, but he’s offering a warm embrace to US tech companies and the AI hype they’ve unleashed.

As Canada’s AI minister suggests AI regulation is off the table, there’s ample reason to be worried about Carney’s tech agenda.

My latest for @breachmedia.ca:
Mark Carney’s AI agenda is a gift to Big Tech ⋆ The Breach
The Liberal government is charging ahead with the technology despite mounting evidence of harm for workers, vulnerable groups, and public services

In my research on complicity one thing is clear: It is VERY hard for people to backtrack on rationalizations and self justifications, i.e., to admit they were wrong. People coming to a realization that they were scammed is a big deal; no one likes to admit they were fooled 1/

Misinformation specialist, far-right provocateur, and champion of the anti-lockdown movement Roman Baber, has had a campaign sign on a prominent York Center intersection since I believe late 2023.

This isn't explicitly disallowed by Elections Canada, but it's incredibly misleading!
