Of all the genres I write, memoir is the one that stymies the most. Elissa Altman's PERMISSION helped me to see more clearly that part (or all?) of that struggle is a hesitancy about permission. Great read for the reluctant memoirist.

If there’s an author you appreciate, one of the simplest, most helpful, least expensive things you can do for them is ask your public library to add that author’s newest book to their collection.

Many library websites have a form for that. So give it a try, and make an author’s day!

Love this! Super excited that there is a Vox edition of One Long Line. (And I got to narrate!)
I put a book on hold for my kiddo since it's been checked out every time we've gone to get it. I didn't realize it was one of those Vox editions, and holy hell, does she LOVE the book being read to her while she can flip the pages. Yes, she's done audiobooks before but it's never been this exciting.

Just finished my transition from Goodreads to @thestorygraph.com. Moving a long reading history was much easier than expected ... and it felt great to delete a little more bezos from my life.

True story. So productive. And she didn't goof off once. :-)
For the past couple days @loreegriffinburns.bsky.social & I have been writing together on Zoom for an hour. A five-minute hello, an hour of silent work, and a five-minute goodbye, and it's been the most productive hour of my day. Turns out I goof off less when someone's watching. Highly recommend.

🧵 I’ve been thinking all day about a beautiful story of bravery at a weekly newspaper in Michigan.

It was 1977 and the White Lake Observer was covering the poisoning of White Lake, as well as the poisoning of 2 billion gallons of groundwater with carcinogens by the Hooker Chemical Company. 1/9

Just finished this delightful book by @loreegriffinburns.bsky.social which amazingly 1) tells a spellbinding story about marching caterpillars, 2) explains how scientists concoct experiments, and 3) invites young readers to ask wacky questions and try to answer them.
