“June ‘71” by Black Owls (2010).

Now err.. spinning? Well, playing anyway, as I don’t have this superb mix of psychedelic rock and glam-punk on vinyl. A very retro sound that fits my sensibilities exactly.

For those who insist Trump ruled out seizing Greenland by military force… you’re hearing what you wanted. In fact, he absolutely did not rule it out. On top of that, he kept mentioning *Iceland* as well. Possibly a Freudian slip, but Trump’s pick for ambassador, Billy Long, has floated the same idea

Media outlets: Mafia goon rules out use of force. Expresses regret at the mere thought of it

I know the new edition of D&D gets all the headlines and attention, but sometimes it’s good to try older, lesser-known RPGs. I’m currently running “7th Sea” (long time player, first time GM of this game). It’s a fabulously swashbuckling game and setting (Théah), an utter delight to play!

"AB8" by Alter Bridge (2026).

Finally got a chance to get the new Alter Bridge album on the turntable and crank it up. Wow. Just wow. Pictured is double LP on 'Cristallo Milk Glitter' vinyl.

Trump and Putin want to dismantle NATO, and Green Party leader Zack Polanski apparently wants to do it for them, FFS, leaving Britain to be plundered or destroyed by one or the other. At best he’s not a serious politician, at worst he’s a paid Kremlin asset.

It’s a shame Starmer studied Law. If he’d studied History, he might have heard of the Munich Agreement of 1938 and a certain piece of paper, and how that turned out.

For clarity, Starmer is Neville Chamberlain in this scenario. And Trump is Hitler. I went there.

50th Anniversary Collection by Jethro Tull (2018). Watching the massive snowfall from the safety of the battlements at Corwyn Towers, we decided to fortify ourselves with a dram (or two) of Auchentoshan and this fabulous collection of the music of Jethro Tull.

Now spinning: "Confrontation" by Bob Marley & the Wailers (1983)

We were in the mood for some reggae! This is their 13th and final album, released two years after Marley's death. The cover art - Marley as St. George slaying the dragon Babylon - was inspired by a British WW1 recruitment poster!

I absolutely agree about the best bourbon, and the Islay choice is good. I need to try some of these others that I'm not familiar with. Not the Japanese one, though, as Japanese whiskys are overpriced in the UK market, sadly.

Saw “Colossus: The Forbin Project” recently. Very prescient 1970 film about dangers of AI. I feel this news story got buried last month. Hackers got Anthropic’s AI, Claude, to hack a number of very important international targets - including the Pentagon. Scared yet?

“LGBT survivors tell of 'barbaric' NHS shock therapy.”

Further to my recent post about the evils of ECT, we now have revelations about powerful electric shocks (ESAT) being used to torture young LGBT people (some as young as 12), again, very much without their consent.

Now spinning: "Liege & Lief" by Fairport Convention (1969).

I was introduced to this fantastic album at 19, and it instantly gave me an abiding love of folk-rock. Sandy Denny was an incredible talent, sadly taken too soon. I want her version of "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?" played at my funeral

Now spinning: "Abbey Road" by The Beatles.

I confess this cracking album by the Fab Four often gets overlooked at Corwyn Towers, in favour of "Sgt Pepper" (my favourite) or "Revolver" (their best album). But this is solid gold. Shown is the 2019 anniversary remix on picture disc.

Now spinning: "Songs For The Deaf" by Queens of the Stone Age (2002).

One of the most original and best rock albums of this century, SFTD is all killer and no filler. Josh Homme takes us on a speed rock road trip across the desert from LA to Joshua Tree. No one else sounds like QotSA!

The movie was well directed and edited, but the plot ... ugh... as one character says, "Nothing about tonight makes any sense". But the music - a series of original collaborations between rock/metal bands and hip-hop acts is fucking awesome!
