Now spinning: "Liege & Lief" by Fairport Convention (1969).

I was introduced to this fantastic album at 19, and it instantly gave me an abiding love of folk-rock. Sandy Denny was an incredible talent, sadly taken too soon. I want her version of "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?" played at my funeral

Now spinning: "Abbey Road" by The Beatles.

I confess this cracking album by the Fab Four often gets overlooked at Corwyn Towers, in favour of "Sgt Pepper" (my favourite) or "Revolver" (their best album). But this is solid gold. Shown is the 2019 anniversary remix on picture disc.

Now spinning: "Songs For The Deaf" by Queens of the Stone Age (2002).

One of the most original and best rock albums of this century, SFTD is all killer and no filler. Josh Homme takes us on a speed rock road trip across the desert from LA to Joshua Tree. No one else sounds like QotSA!

Now spinning: "Here to Destroy" by Split Dogs (2025)

A huge shot of adrenaline straight to the heart by Bristol, England-based garage/punk rockers, SPLIT DOGS. Show is the second pressing, one of the limited run of only 500 on red/black splatter vinyl.

Now spinning: "Judgment Night OST" various artists (1993)
The movie was well directed and edited, but the plot ... ugh... as one character says, "Nothing about tonight makes any sense". But the music - a series of original collaborations between rock/metal bands and hip-hop acts is fucking awesome!

Now spinning: "God Shaped Hole" by Those Damn Crows (2025).

On their most accomplished work to date, the lads from Bridgend pull out all the stops and let their natural chemistry shine via huge hooks. My fellow countrymen rock and are surely on the edge of something huge! Da iawn!!

This was my result! This was literally my first attempt at the game, although I did change my mind on a couple of decisions mid-flow, as it were.

Now spinning: "Diamond Star Halos" by Def Leppard (2022)

With its nods to the era of Glam rock - including the T-Rex referencing title - this feels very much like classic Def Lep. Huge fun.

Now spinning: "Crimes of Passion" by Pat Benatar (1980).

A delightful chance to revisit early 80s rock. Benatar's second album is her best-selling, rated 4x platinum, and gained her a Grammy award.

Now spinning: "Divided We Fall" by Biohazard.

With the original lineup reunited and their first album in 13 years, the hardcore punk/metal/hip hop pioneers from Brooklyn deliver a brutal and thrilling 38 minutes of pure sonic aggression.

Now spinning: various albums by ISAO TOMITA, Japanese pioneer of electronica. I’m starting with “Kosmos” (1978, a.k.a. “Space Fantasy” in some regions). I first discovered Tomita via “Bermuda Triangle” (also 1978).

Now spinning: "Bonded by Blood" by Exodus.
Time to wind down for the evening (lol) with some classic old-school Bay Area thrash - Exodus's debut album. Pictured is my original 1984 UK edition of the vinyl LP.

Now spinning: "Roar Like Thunder" by Buckcherry.
Concluding tonight's double bill of Buckcherry is this absolute fucking belter of what I guess we should call a "comeback album". Pictured is the green & purple merge vinyl LP.

Now spinning: "15 (20th Anniversary edition)" by Buckcherry. Pictured is the recent anniversary edition of this great album on luscious red vinyl. First part of tonight's double bill of Buckcherry.

Now spinning: "Led Zeppelin II"
That opening riff from "Whole Lotta Love" transports me instantly back to the 1970s. No Delorean needed! Pictured is the 2014 remaster on 180g vinyl.

Now spinning: "Black Rose - A Rock Legend" by Thin Lizzy.

This 1979 album solidified my love of Thin Lizzy. It also marked the beginning of my love affair with Celtic mythology, and with the art of Jim Fitzpatrick (8 of his paintings hang in my living room). Pictured is my original 1979 LP.

Now spinning: "Heart of the Storm" by Alaska.

A slice of obscure melodic rock goodness from Bernie Marsden's short-lived post-Whitesnake project, Alaska. Well worth a listen.

"I've got to run away, I've got to get away".

Now spinning: "Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret", a 1981 platinum-selling album by British synth-pop duo, Soft Cell (Marc Almond and David Ball). Containing their incredible cover version/reworking of Gloria Jones' "Tainted Love".

Now spinning: "Genesis" s/t from 1983. This is the original vinyl release. As you'd expect with genius Hugh Padgham co-producing, Phil Collins' "gated reverb" drum sound features heavily. The LP pictured is an original 1983 UK release.
