🤩 There’s a very – VERY! – exciting animations/performance change available in Chrome Canary:

Under the right conditions, `width`/`height` animations will no longer automatically force a Main Thread animation, but can be allowed to run on the Compositor.

I dug into progressive image rendering and found a bunch of common assumptions aren't quite true.

➡️ JPEG & WebP progressive-renders worse in Safari
➡️ AVIF _does_ support progressive
➡️ But JPEG XL in Safari doesn't
➡️ JPEG XL decodes much slower than AVIF
⬇️ and more

Have you tried the Penpot Exporter yet?

This plugin can convert a Figma file into a Penpot-compatible format. It generates a .zip file that you can easily import into Penpot💃

Interesting list of AT Proto apps
I did not realize that the AT Proto dev community has already created alternatives to every platform I use for my community.

I'm going to create this thread to explain what each one does and what it replaces. Why should you care?

I love Typescript so much - I remember the times before using it, trying to visualise the shape of data as it would flow through a system, and suffering... but now, I can just define it and get auto complete and warnings.

Despite the output not always being amazing, I really enjoy bouncing solutions off LLM's when I don't have someone else to - exploration of topics through conversation has helped me learn quite a lot in the past year on all sorts of domains.

It's awesome. Using it on my feet and elbows, but nice for anywhere it seems.
