NIN, Nyman & Squirrels. Music Librarian at the Library of Congress Packard Campus! I'm that kid you always saw at Tower Records waiting for albums to drop at midnight😉
They told us only to check emails during furlough. Because of this my laptop is downloading a whole bunch of updates. Basically I got excited to be back at work just to sit here staring at the Windows download progress 🤦‍♀️ I'm super happy to be back at work though!!!!💽🎼🎵🎶📚

I have received a text message from my boss asking me to log on to the work computer. It looks like we'll be back to work as of tomorrow morning! Instructions for resuming normal operations were sent only to our work emails. Fingers crossed the VPN is working!
NOTICE: During a temporary shutdown of the federal government, all Library of Congress buildings are CLOSED to the public and social media accounts are not active. In the meantime, please enjoy our content archive.

George has worked for Electric a long time now. He’s one of the most loved people at Electric Entertainment. When we heard about his illness it was devastating to us all. We’re all hoping and praying for his speedy recovery. If you can, please donate to his GoFundMe

NOW it’s all coming together.

Who uses SNAP?

My friend, who works, raising 5 kids, husband bailed and won’t pay child support

My neighbor battling cancer and her life-saving meds are so expensive, she chooses between meds or food

My friend who’s a vet and struggles with mental health issues.

Not one of them chose this.

I’ve worked on close to 60 grants overall in various capacities, I can’t imagine my working on any in the foreseeable future. There’s literally only one or two places to go.

A couple years ago I worked on 12 grants in my role as a task force director at the Library of Congress. This year, zero. We are going to lose a lot of our public memory. Which is at the crux of fascistic mobilization.

This makes my skin crawl to read. Just so deeply embarrassing out infuriating. Print this out and mail it to your reps. Read it to them on their voicemails. They all need to feel unimaginable shame until they finally grow the collective spine to - at the very least - call for new leadership.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Rediscover Jungle Brothers’ Debut Album ‘Straight Out the Jungle’ (1988) | Tribute
Though the music was straightforward and a little rough around the edges, the Jungle Brothers’ inaugural LP proved there was a place for their laid-back and groove-based approach.

if you are food insecure for both the humans and pets in your household there is a tool called Pet Help Finder that can help locate pet food banks nearby and other free or reduced price assistance and supplies for pets.
no one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, should have to give up their pet bc of this.

Followup: try looking up the CD you are holding on @discogsofficial.bsky.social they do an amazing job of adding notes to let you know when there's a hidden track that they or the submitters have found!
This happened more often than everybody thought. My job is to catalog CDs and I can quick listen to most of it to get the subjects and genres to assign. But the last 2 minutes of the last track I let play and keep going because I know damn well more often than not there will be a hidden track/thing!

A ethnic person with just one felony can’t get a good job, own a gun, vote in some states or travel to many foreign countries. Even paying their debt to society, they are still the lowest of the lows in society.
A wealthy white with 34 felonies can be President and do whatever he wants.

Not great.
