I completely agree. The direct market has been run (into the ground) by a succession of greedy dopes, but it didn't have to end up this way.
And while most art comics people might not think they have common cause with Wednesday Warriors, one less place to have your comics seen is not good.

I think art comics people tend to see stuff like this as irrelevant to them, but a strong commercial center of a medium

The Comics Journal released its Top 100 Comics of the 20th Century in 1999's issue 210, a survey demonstrating the depth of English-speaking comics. Canon Annual 2024 revisits this list, dissecting it from every perspective. A true FAN zine!
