This little dude is just the best (& sweetest). He's recently taken to laughing when playing, on top of the usual dooking 🥰 he also likes to have power naps during playtime #ferret #ferretlove

It turns out you can't threaten to decimate the history and heritage of an entire region of the UK without serious opposition from the public. Please lend us your voice - History and Heritage have been a staple of Bangor for a century and a half, and is in danger of being destroyed.

Bangor University Archives under threat due to newly proposed cuts by the University. This would be devastating for the study of Welsh heritage and history, as well as broader global studies.

As Dr Daniel Huws, former Keeper of Records at the National Library of Wales, stated in his magnus opus, ‘A Repertory of Welsh Manuscripts and Scribes, c.800–c.1800’, the most thorough and scholarly study of Welsh Manuscripts ever to be conducted:

Bangor University are looking to make more cuts & the University Archive Service, which is accessible to all, is in the firing line. It may not affect you directly, but it will have a huge impact on Welsh & Global history research. #history #heritage #University #archives #Wales #saveyourarchive

Evening wind-down time has recently consisted of cataloguing the family archives - a long overdue job. Can't stop looking at this pic of my 2 x great grandfather. My strange little brain has decided he looks like an early 20th cent 'gangster'. Is it the rifle or the dog that gives off those vibes?

Lovely afternoon on an ancestry trail, all for a school project. Taking great pride in their love of their 'roots' & history. The eldest feels a deep connection to our ancestors & suggested we spend a day laying flowers at as many ancestors graves as possible 🥰 #familyhistory #genealogy #history

This was quite a shocking find for the family tree! There is something amazing, but also heart breaking, about researching family history #genealogy

Who doesn't love a good rare book?! Including some that belonged to Thomas Jones' of Llantysilio Hall. The Jones' are only briefly mentioned in the history of the hall & estate - these books & their contents could be gold mines (it's common to find annotations & random notes within books like these)
Huge thanks to Shan Robinson for introducing me to the Rare Books Room at Bangor University this afternoon. What a wonderful experience! Found so many interesting books that were previously in Welsh country house libraries. Thinking about how we can make use of this resource for teaching & research.

Blessed Imbolc all
Happy Imbolc! This old Celtic festival marks the start of spring, the beginning of the lambing season, and may have been dedicated to a goddess called Brigit, later St Brigid - the first female saint in Irish literature.
